nathanallan #1 Posted April 14, 2009 I'm no fan of the NES really (much prefer SMS) but Star Force is a fun game!! I used it as a demo cart at a store today cause that's what they had, and that game really rocks! I know it's a clone of Xevious and a pretty standard arcade vertical space shooting scroller but it's a GOOD one! If you see it priced cheap, and you like that sort of game, it's a good one to have. Much fun!! It will be in my collection very soon. Nathan
Ghost Soldier #2 Posted April 14, 2009 I play Star Force every so often when I'm on a NES kick. It's a decent shooter and an easy way to pass a hour.
figgler #3 Posted April 14, 2009 My friend and I discovered Star Force by accident back in the day. They had NES games for $20 at the local department store, which was an absolute steal back when games weren't routinely 29.99 4 months after they came out. Anyway he picked Star Force, I grabbed Cybernoid. Needless to say he got the much better deal and I couldn't get him to trade for even a weekend for the longest time. I totally recommend playing with a QuickShot XII if you have one
Atarifever #4 Posted April 14, 2009 (edited) Famicom version is better. The music is a ton better. But then, I prefer simple over complex in both graphics and sound. Check them both out on Youtube to see the difference. I got it on a pirate cart back in the day, and love it. Crazy Climber #5 Posted April 14, 2009 Yup, very under rated game.
NE146 #6 Posted April 14, 2009 Star Force was always the arcade game I went straight to for a long time back in the mid-classic arcade days. It's an all time favorite. If you guys are only playing the NES/Famicom version, fire up the original in Mame (or on the Tecmo Classic Arcade disc) and try it out the real deal. AtariLeaf #7 Posted April 14, 2009 Oh yea, I've got this on my 110 in 1 cart. Not bad. The arcade version looks pretty good, NE146
S1500 #8 Posted April 14, 2009 I must have 30 copies of this game under various pirate carts, and to add to that, it's on my Xbox Tecmo collection. I can't escape this game.
nathanallan #9 Posted April 15, 2009 Was there ever a Genesis or Saturn or maybe even DC version?? Must check!
darthkur #10 Posted April 15, 2009 Was there ever a Genesis or Saturn or maybe even DC version?? Must check! While I'm uncertain of ports for those systems Star Force is included in the Caravan Shooting Collection for the Super Famicom, which included Star Force, Star Soldier and Hector 87. SFC Shooting Collection @ Allgame There's also the Japanese released GBA cart Hudson Best Collection Vol. 5: Shooting Collection. This included the same three games as the above SFC cart. nathanallan #12 Posted April 15, 2009 Thanks. I don't have a Wii or a Famicom, so I'm gonna try to use a DC emulator for NES and play it that way.
fiddlepaddle #13 Posted April 16, 2009 Star Force is one of my favorites too. It's one of a couple dozen games I always keep on the shelf next to my game station. If I was able to keep only one NES game, that one might be it.
