STICH666 #1 Posted April 14, 2009 Arguments over grades happen. My dad said that all my stuff is going to be taken away until my grades come up. Well I rebutted that statement with "good luck renting out the storage unit and paying every month". He then said that it would all be thrown away. I said "yeah well that's all my property aside from the 360 and computer". He stormed off knowing I was right.

STICH666 #3 Posted April 14, 2009 Oh don't worry. I know he would never kick me out unless I really fucked up. Like for instance if I dropped out or was arrested for a DUI.

Yeah, really. If I had a son that talked to me like that, I'd kick his ass (after I threw everything away).
STICH666 #5 Posted April 14, 2009 I'm 17 years old, 5 foot 10 inches @ 235lbs. I'm too big for him to kick my ass. I didn't talk to him in a disrespectful tone. I just told him the truth.
STICH666 #6 Posted April 14, 2009 When i go off to college, I'm going to rent out a storage unit myself so my parents don't sell the stuff in between college and getting my own place.

You have to sleep some time. You could be 20 feet tall, but once you go to sleep, a little person could crack your skull open with a brick or superglue your hand to your naughty area or draw on your face with a permanent marker or just stab you in the throat with a pencil. "That will teach you to talk back to me. I brought you into this world and I can take you out of it too."
Blur2040 #11 Posted April 14, 2009 (edited) I'm 17 years old, 5 foot 10 inches @ 235lbs. When did that become big? I've nearly got a foot on you. Either way, you're never too big to get your ass kicked. Really? It's my stuff and you can't sell it? Really? Think about that. Does that really sound like the adult way to handle it? Talk back and then come online and brag? Man up and quit slacking. If you weren't wasting time playing games you'd probably be doing better in school. Ten years from now it won't matter how many video games you collected while in high school...in fact...high school grades really won't matter in ten years either. They will, though, matter in a few months when you start applying to colleges and you can't get in anywhere decent. figgler #12 Posted April 14, 2009 Your dad is trying to point out that your priorities are a little fucked up right now and he's right. Do well in school, get a half decent job and in ten years you should have enough disposable income to buuy all the games you want.
shadow460 #13 Posted April 14, 2009 I wish I had applied myself a little better in my senior year of school. Specifically, I wish I'd applied myself a little better in the punctuality department. Being tardy dropped one's grade by a point for each offense. I was laxosdasical about what time I'd get to school. Partly due to that I have a marked difference in my GPA between my last year of high school and my first year of college. Why not sit down with your dad and take him up on his offer to "take it all away". Just agree to let him have the consoles, or something from each one that will keep it from running. then you don't have to worry about storing the games or accessories. Then sit down each night and study hard for a while, and have a strong finish to high school. It's kinda like a runner sprinting to the end. Each person has a number they can meet on the GPA scale in school. Some are good at 2.5, some at 3.0, some all the way to 4.0. You probably have an idea what that number is. Go get it! I always tell myself I'm going to be good at whatever I practice. What do you want to be good at in life? Music? A skilled trade or a profession? or Halo Wars? Cynn #14 Posted April 14, 2009 I would think of all places you'd find little to no love for teenage drama it would be at Atari age. Most people here are likely double your age. I'm only four years away from it myself. I was officially released in 1979... Just like the Intellivision. lol (yes I know the INTV existed in 1978 but technically so did I!) My dad once told me my Genesis was going to get axed if I didn't stop being a smart ass in school. Guess what happed... That's right, blast processing all over the place. Daddy don't bluff around here. I'm still a smart ass though. lol It must not have worked!

CGQuarterly #18 Posted April 15, 2009 I'm pretty sure that a parent can take anything they want away from their child who is still a minor and do anything they want with it. Just spend a little bit less time playing games and posting on AA (you've been here for only three months and you have half as many posts as I have made in about 3 years...) and a little but more time doing your homework and this will all be a non-issue. If you can't make it through high school with decent grades purely because you want to fuck around all the time then you've got problems, because life is WAY harder than that. When your dad started busting your balls, all you needed to do was say "Yeah, you're right dad. I'll apply myself more. You don't need to sweat the video games. Thanks for talking to me about it." and you'd be done, and your dad would think you're a cool kid for being mature about it instead of talking back like a little brat. Oh well, too late for that now. That response alone would have cost you a console at our house. How bad are the grades? Since you stated that he "finally" threatened to take the games away it sounds like your grades have been poor for awhile. You're the one talking about going to college. He just wants to help you reach your potential.

I just have no interest at all in most of my classes. I'm learning nothing new in History. The books in English bore the hell out of me. And research papers are a pain in the ass. Blur2040 #24 Posted April 15, 2009 DD D F B C D Good gravy, son. Junior or Senior? What's your plan when you graduate? School isn't supposed to be fun. School is only fun for a select few people who get off on studying and good grades. I call them Debbies. You might call them "Mark"s or "Alan"s or something like that...(insert the name of the person you know who studies like its their job). Don't do it because you like it. If you like it, theres a good chance you're a total tool box. Do it because it pays off eventually. Even better: Do it because video games cost money. Pizza hut doesn't pay Neo Geo dollars. Pizza hut pays....uhmm...erhmm...deeply discounted Hyperscan dollars. Maybe Sega Genesis dollars. Only sports games, though.

I just want to take an electronics course at my local community college but I need to get out of high school first. The freaking cheap ass board of Ed decided it was a great idea to take out Automotive, Drivers Ed and Eelctronics in place of Woodshop and German. Why the hell would someone need to learn German? If anything take Spanish. Hell I took Italian and that's close enough to get me by at my job at Wendy's.
