+thanatos #1 Posted April 24, 2009 So two years ago, I bought an original Genesis along with the front-loading Sega CD unit at the Midwest Gaming classic. I just loved the look of the front loader with the full size Genesis on top. I already had a 32X in the box that I bought a few months earlier than that. I must have been drunk when trying to set it all up the first time, because I had convinced myself that I was missing an important cable from the 32X to the Genesis-1. Which after researching on Ebay, that cable is always expensive. I don't want to pay $20 for a cable! So there it sat for 2 years, bitching at myself for buying incomplete units and such, and too lazy to buy new cables. Then Tuesday, I looked at it all again, and realized I was not putting the plugs in the right place... Hence this thread, http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=142868 All that was wrong was with the boxed 32X, the store put the old large plug Genesis 1 AV cable in the box. So I was just confused, and all this time I had a cable that would have worked, just packaged with my Genesis 3. At least the good news is the frontloader worked great, as well as the 32X, and I even had Corpse Killer CD 32X, and that worked too. But I've missed out 2 years because I was just not paying attention! Repeating the subject, damn I feel stupid! (Or just a big drunk!)

JamesD #3 Posted April 24, 2009 Well, at least you didn't kill it like I did with my Apple II+ last week. "That chip doesn't look seated right. <push> oh crap, I had the power on and it grounded to the case." So now I have to check a crapload of TTL chips to see which one I fried. In a 'watching a movie because it's so horrible' kind of way.
fiddlepaddle #5 Posted April 25, 2009 I remember one time spending hours trying to figure out why my Genesis/32x/CD wasn't working anymore after I got a new TV, which worked fine when hooked to the antenna. I must have checked everything five times (except what was actually causing the problem). The next day I noticed that I had the white RCA cable plugged into the Yellow jack and vice versa. It's like a train accident... horrible but you can't take your eyes away.
