Parrothead #1 Posted April 24, 2009 (edited) I haven't seen this card pulled in a long time. Must have re-aired this AR episode or something: "Not the cheap wood panel kind" http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/tag/1137715966.html I couldn't resist emailing him with a reality check Edited April 24, 2009 by Parrothead
iwan-iwanowitsch-goratschin #2 Posted April 24, 2009 It´s the infamous "Darth Vader Special Edition" version instead of the "Cheap Wood Panel Kind"..........

toymailman #4 Posted April 24, 2009 It IS the Rare Special Berzerk since it apparently wasn't even made with an end label! Wow, I'll have to start saving my games that were made without end labels! I think I have a Pac-Man, Combat, and Asteroids with that label variation.

+Ransom #6 Posted April 24, 2009 Reminds me of a hand-crank coffee grinder I saw on eBay back in the late 90s. The seller claimed, "As seen on Little House on the Prairie!" and strongly (but never directly) implied that it was the actual prop used in one of the episodes. Mirage #7 Posted April 24, 2009 I haven't seen that Antiques Road Show for quite some time, but I don't recall them ever saying that a Berzerk cart was worth $100, or anything even remotely close to that. I think they just said something like carts range in price from $x to $xxx. "Cheap wood panel kind"? What does that even mean? I don't even need to explain the all kinds of stupid. I already mentioned it elsewhere, but a guy last week from CraigsList threatened to throw a 2600 and some common games on his burn pile if I didn't come and buy them after I already politely told him I wasn't interested in what he had based on the photo he sent me, but that I'm sure someone else would since he didn't want much for them. That's not only all kinds of stupid but various forms of crazy too. Like I'm going to go near a guy's house that holds electronics hostage to random demands. +Allan #8 Posted April 24, 2009 (edited) Actually that AtariAge magazine is really rare. It was a flyer selling the magazine. I haven't seen one of those in over ten years. Now that I look at it more, that flyer I've never seen before. The one I had had the same cover as issue one but had different content inside. It was only two pages. That one in the picture has a different cover so I am assuming the content inside is different. I've never seen it before so it's rarer than I originally thought. Mirage #9 Posted April 24, 2009 Yeah, the AtariAge magazine is a nice find. The funny part is the guy's honking about the black 2600 and the "rare" Berzerk.

Jimmy Yakapucci #14 Posted April 24, 2009 A few years ago they did a segment on Antiques Roadshow where they talked about Atari video games and gave some values. For example, the system itself $100 - $200, common games $5 - $10, Quadrun $500 - $1000. Here is a link to the segment on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyUpT0g2KAE It is kind of hard to hear the "expert" since he would need to drop his pants for us to better hear where he is talking out of. Allan I'm pretty sure I have one in better condition but I can't find it right this moment. Here's one I had in the garage which has unfortunately gotten wet. Don't mind the zip title, it is this little flyer. sea_gull.zip

JY The best part of the Video are the comments Here one poster brags how in 1990 he bought 2 Quadruns for $200 each complete in box. He claims they are worth $1,000 now. To bad they are actually worth including inflation what he paid for them in 1990. MrOik (1 year ago) "I have a have 2 Quadrun games at home that is complete and its in Superb Condition I believe I purchase both for $200 bucks each in 1990. Now, they can reach $1,000 bucks each easily" Here is someone who claims selling Quadrun for $500 to $1,000 is not worth it donaldpan (10 months ago) "SELLING away SOMETHING that RARE for JUST $500-$1,000!? Not WORTH IT." Here is someone who claims that these will be more valuable as the years pass. Too bad he doesn't know this video is 8 years old, and that the games mentioned in this video are worth far less than they were in 2001. Webins (8 months ago) "I think the prices he quotes are for mint-condition in-box systems and games. Also, as the years pass these will become rarer and more expensive. But whatever it's selling price, the Atari 2600 deserves all the respect in the world." Here is one were the guy says the guy is full of it saying an Atari system is worth $100 to $200, but then goes on to say how the Heavy Sixer is worth hundreds. Maybe those rip off heavy sixer buy it now auctions on ebay are having an effect on peoples perceptions dogfart1313 (5 months ago) "The 2600 came in many different forms. A four switch woody like in the video can be had for way under $100 or almost zero if the moron selling it doesn't know what they have. On the other hand a working original "heavy sixer" which is the holy grail of Atari will go for many hundreds. If all you want to do is play Atari it's fairly cheap. But in the collectors market rare stuff is very pricey. That guy in the video didn't know shit other than those three rare games." Here a guy is claiming the mint condition systems are actually worth $100 to $200 qroytpo78 (4 months ago) "The Guy's really not that off pricing. It depends on the condition of the Atari 2600. If its broke=10-15 Works okay= 30 near mint=50-75 Mint condition= 100 to 200 also you gotta look at the games it comes with" Here another poster agrees that the Boxed Atari in mint condition is worth $100 to $200. Okay he's not too off, but then he drops the bomb that Chase The ChuckWagon sold for $1,000 once. I can't even imagine a sealed copy dropping that price. lartrak (2 months ago) "Yeah, I'd agree. A mint boxed Atari can certainly reach $100-$200. I do remember Chase the Chuck Wagon going for $1000 on eBay once, for some reason." Here is a person that buys the video hook line and sinker. Maybe this guy is the seller in Orange County djswirve1 (3 weeks ago) "100 to 200 dollars!!! thats worth more than most of the old baseball cards that i did hang onto"
