Back in the 8-bit game!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, it's probably been about a year or more since I've stopped by, mainly becuase my modded 1200XL wasn't working and I've been too busy to trouble-shoot it since it went down for the count a little over a year ago. I finally purchased a fully populated replacement mother-board about 2 months ago from Best Electronics, which I'll be using for parts since I have far too many upgrades on my original MB to swap boards. But, I still haven't had the time to get around to fixing my 1200XL. So I'm not "really" back in the game you say? Well, that would have been true, but a friend of mine was forced to move into a smaller home due to the current economy and him being laid-off work for half a year. Though I do hate to benefit from another's misfortune, he told me to come on by and help him move and it would be Christmas in spring for me. He's a man of his word: Among a bunch of other electronics, he gave me, all in working order; Atari 400, 800, 600XL, 800XL, another 1200XL, two 1050 drives, 1010 recorder and an original Atari 820 thermal printer!

I've got 8-bits coming out my ears now!!!

One thing I'm wondering is if that XE compatible board for the Atari 800 is still available for purchase, it was all the rage a year ago before I checked out, I want to upgrade this 800 to the 512K XE compatible machine. As for the other stuff, I'll keep the 1050's and the second 1200XL for future parts, but the 400, 600XL and 800XL I'll be looking to trade or something if anyone is interested. The 800XL has a power pack, the 400 and 600XL don't.

I'm going to be setting up the 800 and other working 1200XL today to use until I get my Super 1200XL up and running again, and since I'll actually be using 8-bits again, I'll be around here a lot more often again too! :)

I'm almost in disbelief in that haul. I'm very impressed Gunstar! I obviously keep the wrong friends lol ;)

As far as your question of "One thing I'm wondering is if that XE compatible board for the Atari 800 is still available for purchase", I'm not sure of the answer, but my reply will bump the thread and hopefully somebody else will know. :)

He's probably ironing out any or all the bug(s) he's found so as to producing a bug free version
