Richard H. #1 Posted May 5, 2009 Has anyone ever got permission to build a multicart ? Just wondering, would I get my arse kicked if I built one for the VirtualBoy ?
darthkur #2 Posted May 5, 2009 Has anyone ever got permission to build a multicart ? Just wondering, would I get my arse kicked if I built one for the VirtualBoy ? A multicart would be excellent. I seriously hope you make one. As aggressive as Nintendo has been about certain properties in the past I fail to see why they would even be the least bit concerned when the subject is a decade plus old system that was, in their opinion, a complete and utter failure. +remowilliams #3 Posted May 6, 2009 (edited) Just wondering, would I get my arse kicked if I built one for the VirtualBoy ? Building a 'bring your own roms' multicart - likely never to be an issue. Building one with all the binaries built in already... that could be a different story entirely. As aggressive as Nintendo has been about certain properties in the past I fail to see why they would even be the least bit concerned when the subject is a decade plus old system that was, in their opinion, a complete and utter failure. For one, because of the way the laws work. Don't protect IP that belongs to you (even if you don't particularly care about its marketability, worth etc.) and you start eroding at the ability to protect IP you do care about. For two - this is Nintendo we're talking about. Edited May 6, 2009 by remowilliams
Video #4 Posted May 6, 2009 (edited) There's a long post about this, where someone was working on one, wonder what happened to it? Anyhow, as for legal issues, there are none, as long as you don't sell it with Nintendo's roms already on it. For your own purpose though, nobody could really say anything one way or the other.
