ataridave #1 Posted May 5, 2009 I'm not interested in the TT or Falcon models, just the best overall ST model for gaming purposes. I'm interested in how much NTSC software there is for it; I can't find very much for the Amiga. I know that both were huge in Europe, though.
Fletch #2 Posted May 5, 2009 Try to find a 1040STFm or a 1040STE. Both have RF built in so you can hook it up to a TV. If you were planning on getting a monitor as well then a 1040STf will do just fine. Just know a 1040STf does not have a TV modulator.

StickHead #4 Posted May 7, 2009 (edited) Any STFM with 1MB of RAM and a double sided floppy drive will suffice. Some later games are STE only, but lots of early games cause problems on STE. If you ensure that your TV can display both 50 and 60 hz then you can use both European and US software/games. If you can't get hold of a 1MB machine, 512k of RAM is suitable for many games (especially earlier ones) and are easier to find/cheaper to buy. Please feel free to ask any further questions - as mentioned www.atari-forum.com is full of knowledgeable folk very tolerant of newcomers.
