What's your favourite XBLA game?

Recommended Posts

Yeah ... I'm too lazy to try out all the trials. What would you recommend? I've seen a couple of really neat games but where the eye candy is probably the biggest pull. OutRun is one I will be buying ... my 6 year old daughter loves the trial and is almost as good as me at it.

Anything else I should be taking a look at?

Anyone actually bought a Community Game yet?

Eh, I know I always rag on live, but I do havve Geometry wars, and Worms, and like both OK (though I liked Geometry wars more for the DS, just seems a more appropriate platform IMO)

I loved Cloneing Clide, and Marble Blast, but without being able to get hard copies, I'm not interested in paying for them. (got the other two on memory cards when walmart sold out)

There's some luman something or other too, which apparently I p;ayed enough to get some stuff unlocked on it, but I can't for the life of me tell you what.

My friend has the XBLA disc that comes with the arcade X-box, and I want it, it has Pac-man, and some missile launching thing (with Geometry wars ish looking stuff on it) and you can play it to your own music, it's fun.

Lot of cool stuff out there. Just wish I was more open to buing limited software for faulty hardware.

The Community game Karnn Age isn't a bad shooter but it's a bit hard. I die quite a bit on the easy level. The Community game Miner Dig Deep is a cute game that kids can play.

XBL games that are my favorites:

1942: Joint Strike:

Bionic Commando: Rearmed

Pac-Man Championship Edition

Geometry Wars 1. Fun game to mess with for a few minutes while the wife shops Wal*Mart.

It has the best home version of Root Beer Tapper. Solves a few sound issues that plagued previous emulations of it such as the Midway Arcade Treasures version. Also Time Pilot is another one that was done very well that I keep going back to (Mostly to try to get a achievement that always eludes me, surviving to 2001 without dying).

Achievements are the best thing to happen to video games since 'save any where's"

Even better since achievements are in EVERY 360 game....but save any where's aren't :|

heh I dunno man.. I dont mind achievements at all, but then again I pay absolutely no attention to them. I barely notice their presence. :P

And I'll admit it's a little annoying to me when it comes to score based games (i.e. Galaga or any classic arcade title) where it's so easy to compare achievements, but you need to launch the game to compare actual scores, which of course is the thing that counts. I mean everyone has the max 200 achievement points for it.. so what? That shit is useless. What's their score is what I want to see :ponder:

You can find that disc for dirt cheap at any store that sells used games. For awhile, GS was selling the Namco museum collection for $15.00 that has Pac-Man CE, Galaga Legions, and many Namco games. Not sure if that is still on.

As for me: PacMan CE and Ikagruga

Geometry Wars 1 and Pinball FX top my list. I always come back to them. Each game lasts just long enough to be satisfying and is just short enough to feel like I'm not making a huge investment in time. Both have extremely well balanced play, and are just simple but extremely well crafted games.

Actually, I got my friend to sell me (well, he gave it to me) his copy, so now I can play those games too. Still wish there were others.

Personally, I'm surprised there aren't more XBLA compilations.

Geometry Wars 2 I still play regularly. I don't play the first one so much anymore.

Pac Man CE is still fun.

My youngest daughter and I play the two Feeding Frenzy games together.

Uno is fun to play.

Heavy Weapon is great fun on Live.
