moving2 #1 Posted May 12, 2009 Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum, but I've been wanting to get a 2600 and return to vintage gaming for a long time, and now I'm doing just that. I have a Supercharger, which I am currently modding, and I'm planning on getting the S-Video mod done for me. I have some questions: 1. I've tried contacting LonghornEngineer via his website for the S-Video mod, but no response for the past week and a half or so. Does anyone know if he's still doing these? 2. I am aware of the supercharger CD project, but has anyone made a collection of Atari ROMs in mp3 / wav / other audio format? Any idea where I can find / buy something like this? Note: I have purchased "Worship the Woodgrain", but I am looking for more ROMs! 3. I've noticed that certain games, such as Asteroids, cannot be converted using makewav because they are not 2/4k ROMs. Has anyone been able to get this game / others like it to work via the Supercharger? Sorry if the questions are noob, and thanks in advance! Vik
ovalbugmann #2 Posted May 12, 2009 (edited) Welcome. Superchargers are cool huh! I have a modded one. Dude you need to check out what our member "Nukey Shay" has done with converting vcs roms that do not work in an UN-modded SC so that they WILL work in an un-modded SC. If you don't see Asteroids there(in the 2600 hacks forum thread, that Nukey Shay started) you can probably put in a request to him. I think it's in the 2600 hacks forum. If I were you I would use the search function in the 2600 forum putting in "Supercharger" and start reading! -good stuff. In the meantime the very best collection of 2600 roms that has been gone through with a fine tooth comb is: our own ROM HUNTER's collection: http://www.atarimania.com/roms-MENU-2.html (does not include homebrews & hacks) As far as the Longhorn S-video mod there was a recent thread where he was taking orders, why don't you go to "members" at the top of any page and look him up and check out his threads and recent posts. On this site - you better be prepared to do some reading because the same questions get asked and answered over and over by people who want a quick answer. All your Atari answers are here! Impaler_26 #3 Posted May 12, 2009 Welcome to AA! Here's a thread with Supercharger MP3s: http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=125293
tkarner #4 Posted May 12, 2009 I've had mixed results using MP3s. Wav files work more consistently. But my prefered method is to hookup an old laptop to my Supercharger and use wplaybin.exe. It converts bins to wavs on the fly and plays them in realtime. I have it setup so that double clicking a bin on the laptop runs wplaybin and loads the Supercharger. Wickeycolumbus #5 Posted May 12, 2009 3. Asteroids (and all other games over 4K) can not be played on the Supercharger because the SC only has 6K of RAM

Mark Wolfe #7 Posted May 12, 2009 Welcome to AA! Here's a thread with Supercharger MP3s: http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=125293 this is indeed the thread to check but also you want to check Nukey's awesome conversion thread here: http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?s...c=65897&hl= BTW: My MP3 collection [the first link] was done at the highest bit-rate and works PERFECTLY on an iPod. Read the entire thread for details. No need to hook up a cumbersome laptop. get yourself an old iPod, I use an old 4GB and hook it up. I think the trouble a previous poster here may have had was due to the audio cable. You need to bridge a stereo cable to mono before you hook it to you supercharger or computer. Leave messages in original thread if you have any questions.

tremoloman2006 #9 Posted May 12, 2009 I find MP3s made with lame 3.96-3.98 with highest quality VBR settings work perfectly on both the Supercharger and TI-99/4A. Never have had an issue thus far.
