SH204 Hard Drive Problems

I've recently aquired a SH204 hard drive, which i'm trying to use with my 1040STfm. The drive powers up, but I cannot seem to boot the computer with the hard drive boot disk. When I power up the computer, it reads the floppy, stops, reads it again, the LED on the hard drive flashes, then the system hangs.

 

I'm new to the ST world, having grown up with an 800XL. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
