Mendon #3 Posted May 16, 2009 I'll buy this on release day, no questions asked. Lunar is one of my favorite series of all time and I have all the games for it, including the import versions for Saturn that weren't released here. My only regret is that Working Designs isn't in on it. I loved just about every Working Designs title released, plus they put together the BEST game packages going. And these packages weren't limited editions, either! Mendon
cimerians #4 Posted May 16, 2009 Day one purchase hands down, one of my favorite RPG's of all time.
liveinabin #5 Posted May 19, 2009 I never finished the PS1 game - must rip it to my PSP and get cracking on that once I'm done with Fallout
CGQuarterly #6 Posted May 20, 2009 That looks really cool, but I have the PSX version, and a "copy" of the SCD version. Plus I don't like playing RPGs on the PSP because I have big hands and it's hard to hold for long stretches of time. Although I did complete the first Legend of Heroes title on the PSP during a long stretch of being home sick from work. Chris
NE146 #7 Posted May 20, 2009 Lunar seems so popular, but I bought Lunar for the Sega CD the day it came out, and was blown away by the cutscenes (very much so). But by the time I finished it I felt it was a very shallow & straightforward RPG where there wasn't much that made it a compelling experience that I had zero interest in the series after that. It just seemed at the time that Phantasy Star & the Final Fantasys were so much better even though they didnt have the nice cinemas. Maybe I missed something... DEBRO #8 Posted May 20, 2009 Hi there, Lunar was my first RPG I ever played and I loved it! I got it the same Christmas I bought my SegaCD because Gamefan recommend it. I didn't quite get it when I first played it but I loved it when I really got into it. Pretty much after Alex returns to his village with Ghaleon (don't want to say too much) my heart dropped and I couldn't put down the controller. I remember playing for hours and seeing the sun come up and feeling like crap because I had to get ready for work. Like others I have the SegaCD games (1 and 2), PSX (1 and 2), GBA, and now I look forward to the PSP version. I really hope it comes to the US!

The reason I liked it so much was because it was the first JRPG I played other than Dragon Warrior on the NES. Before that I only played "American" RPG's like Ultima, Wizardry, Bards Tale etc.... I'm sure now I wont like it as much but its sentimental.

That being said, I'm also a bit weak against Extras. So if it had the sort of trappings/bonuses you'd get with the PS1 Complete sets, I'll probably buy this one. If it's just the game and manual, I'll likely pass on it.
Lord Helmet #11 Posted May 21, 2009 I hope the trend of updating the PSX era RPGs for the PSP continues. The system is well suited for games like this, and the PSX is arguably the best RPG console ever, especially if you include the SNES FF games that were released on the PSX. cimerians #12 Posted May 21, 2009 I wouldnt mind remakes either. The PSX was the ultimate RPG machine....I just cant go back to some of them due to the 3d polygon graphics. Great back then but not so nice now. As far as portables go the DS has a zillion rpg's too.

Great back then but not so nice now. As far as portables go the DS has a zillion rpg's too. Yeah, remakes aren't too bad, but I limit myself to the ones I don't own the original of. Too many things to buy as is without rebuying things. For instance, I bought the Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles thing on the PSP. I wanted to play the game since I missed out on the whole Turbografx era. If I already had the game bought years ago tho, I would have left the PSP remake in the store. Sorta like how I left Mana Khemia in the store since I have it on the PS2 already. (I may seem to be contradicting myself, by my fear of remakes is borne of the whole Lunar downgrade to the GBA, and why I avoid remakes of things I already own. I'm sure if I didn't own the PS1 games I'd probably have enjoyed the GBA version just fine, but because I DID, I couldn't stop myself from comparing the two and...) chrisbid #14 Posted June 4, 2009 the gba remake was pretty bad, it lacked the charm of the original and the psx version working designs is still missed this new version will likely suffer the same fate... plus im not a big fan of isometric viewpoints
Mord #15 Posted March 10, 2010 That being said, I'm also a bit weak against Extras. So if it had the sort of trappings/bonuses you'd get with the PS1 Complete sets, I'll probably buy this one. If it's just the game and manual, I'll likely pass on it. And I notice it was released this week. Sadly I haven't the cash to buy it right now but when I get paid next week I may be picking it up (if there are still unmutilated copies of it in town) since there is indeed a limited edition that includes a soundtrack. ^_^ I'm so weak against extras. bomberpunk #16 Posted March 10, 2010 bought this and the guide. still sealed. eventually i'll get around to it.. i borrowed my cousin's segaCD back in the day to play it and i have bought every remake ever since. i do agree that the GBA version pales in comparison to the original. i think i got rid of it, but i still have my fancy deluxe PSX version. well, just the discs and cloth map. CGQuarterly #17 Posted March 10, 2010 I saw this in the store the other day. Completely forgot about it and the fact that I had at one time posted in this thread. I think my attitude about it remains the same, though. I already have the big fat boxed version for PSX, or I could play it on the Sega CD. Still, I was tempted when I saw the limited edition version at the store for $40. Chris
