ianoid #2 Posted May 20, 2009 I sort of doubt the ROMS are anything to do with development. None shown without tape are EPROMS. Tempting, still.
CPUWIZ #3 Posted May 20, 2009 This is worth about as much as the ZIF socket on the PCB and it's not a development cart, it only works with mask ROM's.
power7714 #4 Posted May 20, 2009 That may be true for you CPUWIZ, but to others it may be worth so much more. Keep in mind that collecting isn't always about price. Take for instance a stamp collector. What he/she may see as being worth $5,000 or more, I may not pay more than it's face value. I purchased these for $150 because I wanted them really bad for my collection. I'm not forcing anyone to pay the listed amount. That is the what I believe them to be worth. At least to me and maybe someone else. Thank you for your opinion though.

I hate to break it to you, but I don't think those are worth anything to anyone That is a PCB pulled out of a common 2600 cart fitted with a ZIF socket, and several mask ROMs pulled from other carts. That aside, I wonder what 'Fireman' is...
Mark Wolfe #6 Posted May 20, 2009 (edited) There is a recent thread, I think in the 2600 forum where a guy found one of these at a yard sale or thrift shop. similar thing, only it had like 4 chips with it. This must have been some sort of pirate device from back in the day. update: here's the thread: http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?s...=143680&hl= Edited May 20, 2009 by Mark_Wolfe

ianoid #8 Posted May 21, 2009 (edited) It is a bit of a reality check/price hijack thing. Much as I wouldn't pay $100, I don't think that asking for that is extraordinary since people think that these sets are cool. On the other hand, I often appreciate people's comments as it helps me to avoid overspending. Not that I was going to make an offer- I have a large set like this that I managed to find in the wild. Mark Wolfe #9 Posted May 21, 2009 I think what would make it worth the cost is if it had an eprom burner and some software with it. something that would let you easily burn a rom to a chip... that would be pretty cool.
power7714 #10 Posted May 21, 2009 Price change.
HFK #12 Posted May 21, 2009 I didn't want to crap on your thread yesterday when you thought these were worth $100, sorry to hear you paid $150 if you really did. I got one of these with 40+ games a few months back from another member here for about $25 or so. These really aren't worth much but they do look cool. I think your price point is pretty good now and someone will buy them, good luck with your sale.
Mark Wolfe #13 Posted May 21, 2009 I think you should double check all of the chips and list the games. There is no "Fireman" game that I know of... it is possible, although very remote, that you have a prototype... again a very remote possibility but worth taking a little time to investigate. if the game is indeed called "Fireman" post screenshots of the game and we'll go from there. at the very least you'll get an acurate game list and be able to sell it that much easier. power7714 #14 Posted May 21, 2009 I don't have an atari 2600 anymore so I am unable to try them out again. I can assure you that Fireman is Fireman. I do remember that startup screen. I'd say that $25 shipped is pretty reasonable.
98PaceCar #15 Posted May 21, 2009 I'll roll the dice. If nothing else, it will look cool with all of the other useless stuff I have laying around. PM sent!

Mark Wolfe #23 Posted May 21, 2009 Delete topic please. Thank you. why? dude, what's the problem... a lot of people are trying to HELP you. I think he sold it ok but what about the next person who coms in here with the same thing? now all record of the device and the photos are gone. seems a shame to erase useful information. power7714 #24 Posted May 21, 2009 It did sell. I've got no problem putting the photos back up, I just got the feeling no one was interested. I didn't think anyone would want to use them in the future.
98PaceCar #25 Posted May 22, 2009 Yea, I bought it. I'll fire it up once it gets here and will report back what all it has. I just love oddball stuff like this, so I'm really looking forward to playing with it!
