Speedruns - skateboardin'?

So, I've seen that a few have tried to answer the question "What's the fastest time you can get in Pitfall?".

 

I was thinking this morning-- how come nobody ever made a Speed Run video of Skateboardin'?

 

That game seemed to have much more variability, and so a good speed run video could be tons of fun to see.

The questions that come up for gameplay are really good:

- what's the best path?

- do you get to the semi first, or do a few small local ramps right away?

- how random *is* the semi, anyway? Does it always start at the same area, or is it dependent on a variable power-up RAM state?

- are there any shortcuts that are worth taking, that people may not know about?

- could we learn some secret tricks as a community (i.e. the double-ramp jump)?

 

I was thinking this would be an excellent candidate for a speedrun video.

 

So, who is the expert in this game, and what's your best time?

C'mon, dig it out-- it's an old classic, and it could use some dusting off.

I know I could beat it "in time", but I don't remember my old record. Maybe I'll take a look.

What would be nice is if some made a map of Skateboardin' just like people have done with pitfall!, pitfall II, Montezuma's Revenge, and Dark Chambers. Maybe if I get some more spare time I might try my hand at making a map.
