+Random Terrain #1 Posted May 26, 2009 A Jasper Xbox 360 Arcade made in 2009 is on the way to my house as I type this. I'll have it in a few hours. I'd like to play all night, but I have to go somewhere tomorrow during the day, so I have to sleep tonight. I don't even know if I'll have time to hook it up. If I have to be out late, I may not have it hooked up until Friday! Oh well, at least I finally have one!
Atariboy #2 Posted May 26, 2009 Congrats, I'm sure you'll fall in love with it. Its a great console for the most part. With the increases in reliability in later models, its almost perfect. If they just would fit a improved d-pad to the controller, I'd have no faults with it. Improved BC would be nice too I suppose, but playing Xbox games is what original Xbox's are for I suppose. moycon #3 Posted May 26, 2009 Be sure and shoot me a friends request once your 360 is hooked up and you have a Gamertag. With the 360 games you already have waiting to boot up. It's safe to say you'll be pre-occupied for a long, long time.
NE146 #4 Posted May 27, 2009 Shoot me it too.. Currently the Wii and Punch Out are taking the majority of my gaming time (great game btw.. highly recommended if you don't have it yet). But I'll fire up the 360 now and then
moycon #5 Posted May 27, 2009 NE146 - Last online 3 hours ago. Here let me fix this for you.... But I'll fire up the 360 every few hours.

I should be hooked up by Thursday at the latest, not Friday. Shoot me it too.. OK, but are you talking about a friends request or something more avatar related? Going to bed now. Hope I get a chance to hook it up tomorrow instead of Thursday. I'll get to play a couple of games on my sister's PS3 tomorrow, so I'll get to play something at least. Atariboy #7 Posted May 27, 2009 Feel free to add me too (Gamertag is LeoAmes17). Always nice to have another AtariAge member on my friends list to compare XBLA scores and achievements in other games with.
n8littlefield #8 Posted May 27, 2009 Congrats! That actually makes two of us - I just bought mine a few weeks ago too. I'm really happy with it so far. If you wait until a buy 2 get 1 free at Gamestop you can do really well on older games too - I got Mass Effect, Dead Rising, Assasin's Creed, Burnout Paradise, Rainbow Six Vegas 1, and Crackdown for about $65ish. cimerians #9 Posted May 27, 2009 Ahhh but dont forget all the great games we already mentioned in other threads........ Remember to check out XBLA for some great stuff! Im currently getting frustrated with Lego Batman\Indy and Lode Runner. Also replaying Eternal Sonata to get a few more achievements.

Always nice to have another AtariAge member on my friends list to compare XBLA scores and achievements in other games with. Thanks. I'm sure my XBLA scores and achievements will be pretty low since I play like I have ADD. Congrats! That actually makes two of us - I just bought mine a few weeks ago too. Good to know you're happy with it. My sister paid the extra 20 bucks for protection, just in case my Jasper misbehaves. If it wasn't for moycon, my sister wouldn't have offered to put the Xbox 360 on her card and let me pay for it over time. Ahhh but dont forget all the great games we already mentioned in other threads........ Remember to check out XBLA for some great stuff! I'm currently getting frustrated with Lego Batman\Indy and Lode Runner. Also replaying Eternal Sonata to get a few more achievements. Thanks. I still have a good number of games to get on my list that anyone can send to me from my Amazon Xbox 360 Wish List. I update that list and my Amazon Xbox 360 Wish List every time I receive a game. I was browsing the XBLA games that Amazon has listed and didn't see much that stood out, but maybe that will change once I hook up the Xbox 360 and see them from a different perspective. Video #11 Posted May 27, 2009 Congrats on your new system. I'm sure you'll love it, and will probably find the while RROD thing to be blown way out of proportion. Hey, I got a High speed internet now, now I can download demos and stuff (technically, I still have to get the x-box on the network, but eh... )
otaku #12 Posted May 27, 2009 Why such a low end model? Not going online? No need for the hard drive? I started with a pro and recently got an elite after my pro died (again) the new jasper/falcons are supposed to be much more reliable thankfully. Enjoy! To help it along, it will be sitting on something that looks kind of like this, but turned upside-down: Why such a low end model? Not going online? No need for the hard drive? I started with a pro and recently got an elite after my pro died (again) the new jasper/falcons are supposed to be much more reliable thankfully. Enjoy! Don't have the money to buy more than the low end model and on top of that, I wanted to make sure I was getting a Jasper. A nice AA member is sending me a hard drive, so I won't be without one for very long.
Atariboy #14 Posted May 28, 2009 (edited) You'll be all set with a 20 gig hd. I wouldn't of needed more space if I hadn't bought 5 or 6 Xbox Originals and a lot of marketplace videos. That's the only reason I ended up buying a 120 gig hd. Just for XBLA games and DLC for retail games, you'll never have space issues I'm sure. Will you be hooking it up to a SDTV or a hdtv? You'll want to get a cheap 3rd party pair of component cables if you want hd (Should be able to get a set at any GameStop), unless arcades are upgraded with them now like they did by including wireless controllers a while ago. It's a standard 27 inch TV. I have the space for a 32 inch HDTV, but although $400 is affordable compared to a larger $2,000 or more HDTV, it's still out of my reach unless I start making more money from Google, Amazon, or some cool rich dude donates a big wad of cash. Problem I'm having right now is that until I can get something like a chaise lounge, I can be 13 to 17 feet away from my 27 inch TV that has stereo sound or I can hook up a smaller 14 inch TV that I'll be 1 foot to 7 feet away from without stereo sound. A 27 inch TV from 13 feet away is about the size of a 14 inch screen, so I'm not sure what I should do.
Hyper_Eye #16 Posted May 28, 2009 If you have a decent sized computer display you could snag a VGA cable for pretty cheap and you would be able to use whatever the native res os your PC display is. They are generally 1280x1024 or higher if 4:3. That is high-def by any definition. VGA also has the feature of being omitted from the rules against DVD scaling over analog connections. If you slap a DVD in the XBox, for whatever reason, it will upscale to the resolution being used with the VGA cable. That is why I use a VGA cable to connect to my high-def front projector even though it has component connectors. If I had a newer 360 I would use the HDMI input but... I don't. Anyway, I noticed you have Dead Rising on your Amazon list. That game is notorious for being absolutely unplayable on a standard television. Barring the purchase of an HDTV, a PC display would make the game playable as it is essentially the same as using an HDTV.

NE146 #18 Posted May 28, 2009 You just buy the 360 VGA cable.. that's all. If you can find it used, that'd be even better (check Play n Trade or Gamestop). I picked up mine used for $6 I believe. Just know you will need a place to plug in the audio jacks however.

I called Best Buy and asked them what I'd need and they said I'd need a 55 dollar switch box thingy that would allow me to have my computer and Xbox 360 plugged in at the same time and it would automatically switch between them. They also said I would need two more cables, like that guy said in yahoo answers. To do it their way would cost over 100 dollars.

Yours is 1440x900 (which is higher res than 720p). They are awesome displays and yes you can hook up to it. Just get the VGA cable and plug into the VGA port on the monitor. If you hook your computer up to it with a DVI cable then you can actually have both hooked up at the same time and switch between them simply by hitting the source button. Is the advice on this page useful or bull: http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/index...19204424AAYVUFY Thanks. I think you would be hard pressed to find a quality difference between the VGA and HDMI output. I use HDMI on my high-def cable box and VGA on my 360 to the same high-def projector and I think both provide a great picture. Just make sure you set your 360 to use your native resolution. The 360 should look great on that display. Edited May 28, 2009 by Hyper_Eye

Until then, I measured and the old 19 inch TV in the other room that has the PS2 hooked up to it will fit, so I'll put the 14 inch TV out there and put the 19 inch TV in here so I'll have a bigger TV to play Xbox 360 games on. When I go to buy those cables, does anyone know what store would have the best prices? Walmart? Staples? Office Depot? Thanks. Are you not allowed to play "out there"? Are you a prisoner "in here"? BTW, where is "out there" and "in here"? Have you unpacked the 360 yet or are you in the process of doing it now? BTW when I buy cables, I usually go through amazon. You can go to Best Buy and get a $40 cable off their rack, or go through Amazon and get the same type of cable for like $5. After I realized that, I never looked back. Edited May 28, 2009 by moycon

Unfortunately the VGA cables are getting harder to find and Amazon doesn't seem to be carrying them. Newegg has the official Microsoft set for $20 and free shipping though and that is the best deal I have been able to find lately: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16874103025

Are you not allowed to play "out there"? Are you a prisoner "in here"? BTW, where is "out there" and "in here"? Out there is the semi-living room where the PS2 is. Sometimes I play games out there, but mostly my step-sister's kids play there when they come over. In here is really 2 rooms connected by a wide opening that is about the size of 2 doors. One side has things such as my bed and computer desk and the other side has, among other things, the 27 inch TV in an entertainment center thingy, a table and refrigerator. Have you unpacked the 360 yet or are you in the process of doing it now? Yeah, in the process. Now that it's going to be closer to my computer and air conditioner, I have to rearrange stuff. Great thing about it being near my air conditioner is that it probably won't have any overheating problems. BTW when I buy cables, I usually go through amazon.
