swoslover #1 Posted May 27, 2009 I have recently bought an 800. It powers up ok but I am getting no display. Is this a common problem and is it (generally) easily repairable?
Nukey Shay #2 Posted May 27, 2009 (edited) The lead that runs to the television is RF (use an RCA-to-F adapter and link it directly to the television's antenna input). It will not work for composite (seperate audio/visual) inputs. To use the latter, you'd need to aquire a 5-pin DIN cable and plug it into the side port of the computer. IIRC, the cable used for Sega's Master System and Genesis are the same type you'd need. Edited May 27, 2009 by Nukey Shay

If you agree with these pinouts here for Sega Master System and Geneis: http://www.gamesx.com/avpinouts/genesisav.htm then they are incompatible with the Atari's A/V pinouts. I guess you may get away with hearing the audio if you are using Atari 800 just for playing music (perhaps for the blind).
FastRobPlus #4 Posted May 28, 2009 If checking to see if the unit has a video out problem or is completely nonworking, you might tap some of the keys to see if you get the keyboard feedback sound from the unit's built-in speaker.
swoslover #5 Posted June 15, 2009 It is just the standard rf cable. I will see if replacing it with a Mega Drive one will work, after checking if thee is noise from the keyboard. Thanks for the help.
