majinbuu #1 Posted June 3, 2009 I've been at this thing for the last hour and now I'm hopelessly lost. I just cannot get the game to run. I can get it to the first screen where is says Shamus along with programmer and copyright information. I wait for the music to stop playing and that is as far as I have gotten. I have tried OS-B, OS-A and XL/XE mode but no luck. Either crashes or gets stuck at the title screen. Please help Thanks Sam
Kr0tki #2 Posted June 3, 2009 Tried pressing Start? Also, what dump of Shamus have you used? All dumps from Atarimania and Atarionline.pl work fine.
majinbuu #3 Posted June 3, 2009 Tried pressing Start? Also, what dump of Shamus have you used? All dumps from Atarimania and Atarionline.pl work fine. I tried the version that came with Gamebase 800 version 6 and another Shamus (1982)(Synapse)[OSb].atr Both didn't work. Tried both versions from Atarimania and guess what, on standard OS-B setting it worked straight away. Thanks for your help, I should have thought of it myself. I just assumed that the version from Gamebase should have worked.
Wrathchild #4 Posted June 6, 2009 Tried both versions from Atarimania and guess what, on standard OS-B setting it worked straight away. XL fixed version here.
Rybags #5 Posted June 7, 2009 Plenty of Synapse games didn't work properly (or at all) on XL/XE. With Shamus, Nautilus and Slime you could hold Start when the program finished loading and it would work - although Slime would still crash later in the game. IIRC, they also performed a disk access when loading finished - if a disk drive was present for the tape version, or drive not present on disk version, the game would hang. majinbuu #7 Posted June 7, 2009 I tried the version that came with Gamebase 800 version 6 It's not worth bothering. Yeah, I learned that the hard way. Spent a long time on trying to get it to work. Should have went to a trusted source in the first place
