jboypacman #2 Posted June 3, 2009 (edited) Could be good if they stay true to the original gameplay and "Don't Make It 3-D" just do "re-mixed" versions please. Edited June 3, 2009 by jboypacman
BigO #3 Posted June 3, 2009 (edited) Could be good if they stay true to the original gameplay and "Don't Make It 3-D" just do "re-mixed" version please. Based on the statement, "Cryptic apparently 'is working on the development of a series of new games based on Atari's existing and historically successful IPs.'", I'd guess they'll be "improving" the games. Video #4 Posted June 4, 2009 (edited) Eh, I'll have to see them first befor I can really comment on weather they will be good or not... This day in age, it's to common for "improvements" to make their way into games based off of original or older titles. sloth713 #5 Posted June 4, 2009 They may not be all bad because i have asteroids, space invaders, and pong the next level for playstation; i think they up dated the games well then and added new interesting twists while keeping fairly true to the original game. But we will just have to wait and see because at the moment they have just as much chance as being awesome as they do of being huge piles of steaming crap. classicgamingguy #6 Posted June 4, 2009 I agree on this. Remakes always make me a bit twitchy. The Atari collection discs have remake videos such as Missile Command and Centipede, but I'm all for the more puritan aspects of gaming, so remakes wouldn't thrill me enough to warrent a purchase. I suppose I'm too much of a die hard of the "old days" to change now.
Rybags #7 Posted June 4, 2009 It's often a no-win situation revamping the old classics. Make it pixel-perfect and keep the same gameplay and similar sound and you'll be criticised for just running an emulation layer. Pretty it up and substitute analog type movement with inertia and you risk killing the gameplay. For the most part, I've found rehashes to just be a waste of time. roland p #8 Posted June 4, 2009 Maybe it's good for gaining interest in old systems?
