Underball #1 Posted June 11, 2009 Are there any emulators on iphone yet?
phaxda #2 Posted June 11, 2009 There are some classic games, and if you jailbreak it or whatever the kids are up to these day (I don't really follow all that as I like my phone the way it is) I think there are even more options with emus and the like. This is a pretty good thread with game recommendations: http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?s...0&hl=iphone Enjoy, it's a great thing to have! Lord Helmet #3 Posted June 11, 2009 There is an NES emu, but you have to jailbreak your phone first: http://www.zdziarski.com/projects/nesapp/ Here is the iPhone Dev Team site for jailbreaking the phone: http://blog.iphone-dev.org/
Underball #4 Posted June 12, 2009 Pardon my stupidity, as I'm just getting into this - but will jailbreaking it mess up my contract with AT&T or my phone service? I'm got a PSP that I cracked and added custom firmware, but I really don't want to mess up my Phone service just to play games...
FlightSuit #5 Posted June 12, 2009 There's a port of Joust for the Nokia 6620 that's just excellent, so if Joust is available for your iPhone, get it! I'm assuming here that it would be coming from the same publisher as the version for the Nokia.
mimo #6 Posted June 12, 2009 There was a port of Atari 2600 Adventure in the apps shop. Not tried it though
ComputerSpaceFan #7 Posted June 12, 2009 If you don't want to jailbreak (hack) your iPhone there are still plenty of classic games you can get off the App Store. I have the Atari 2600 Adventure one (free) and I like it. There's also things like reproductions of coin operated games such as Space Invaders, Dig Dug, Galaga, Pac-Man, Pole Position, Missile Command, etc. Some of them are a little pricey but if classic gaming goodness is what you want, they are available. I have Pole Position and Missile Command. They are worth the price. And there's games that are very similar to classics, tons of Asteroids clones, Super Mario clones, a truly awesome Battlezone clone called Vector Tanks, etc.
Underball #8 Posted June 12, 2009 I won't mind jailbreaking it, provided I don't mess up my phone service account.
Jimmy Yakapucci #9 Posted June 13, 2009 I heard that they are going to release a new multi-player game. What is cool is that it works with pretty much any phone on any network. The basic gameplay is this: One person uses their phone to call another person with a phone. They talk and then they hang up. Don't think that it will catch on, though. Lord Helmet #10 Posted June 14, 2009 I won't mind jailbreaking it, provided I don't mess up my phone service account. Jailbreaking it will not mess up your contract with AT&T. It merely allows you to use installer.app to install applications on your phone instead of iTunes. Unlocking your phone is different, and allows you to use a carrier other than At&t. The only caveat is that you shouldn't update your phone's software when Apple offers an upgrade (such as the 3.0 upgrade we're getting this week). Think of it like your hacked PSP...you don't upgrade the firmware until the cracked version is available...same thing here. They are usually a couple of weeks behind the official release. I just haven't read up enough on it. It's pretty cool without being jailbraked. I'll probably wait until the hacker scrak the 3.0 firmware before I bother.
