Kung-Fu Master 4th Level Boss

Any tips for killing the javelin throwing boss at the end of the 4th level in Kung Fu Master? My usual strategy of "kneel and punch him in the nuts" doesn't seem to work. I've wailed on his midsection for time immemorial and he takes no damage (I suspect he is Iron-Balls McGinty). Meanwhile he javelins me like I'm a big gray pin cushion. Is he only vulnerable on his head parts? What gives?

You might be too close, as the hit detection in this game really sucks. Low punches work well, but I think you have to stand just the right distance from him. Too close and you punch through him.

That could be it, I am getting really close to him to duck and avoid the high javelins. I'll try keeping a little distance see if that works!
