godslabrat #1 Posted June 18, 2009 Well, this sucks... It looks like the Joker will be a playable character in the PS3 version of Arkham Asylum, but ONLY in the PS3 version. 360 users are out of luck. I mean, it doesn't bother me that I can't get the game, since I have both systems. What bothers me is that I don't like the idea of good ideas being witheld from a game solely because of the system you have. There's no technical reason not to put the Joker on the 360, so the only reason behind it must be political. So, people who would prefer the game on 360 (or have little choice in the matter) get shafted because we chose the "wrong" system. I guess I can hope that it becomes DLC sometime soon, but I won't hold my breath...
cimerians #2 Posted June 18, 2009 He'll be on the 360 version eventually..... Remember Yoda and Vader on Soul Calibur or Fallout? I dont really care anymore, the publishes can screw around and make deals with the console makers and in the end you simply get pissed off consumers. Capcom did the same thing with Bionic Cammando for the PS3, they figured that PS3 owners didnt care about trophies so instead the 360 got them, until people bitched. godslabrat #3 Posted June 18, 2009 That's kind of why I'm so pissed... why should Capcom or EA care about what system I'm buying for, as long as I'm buying THEIR game instead of someone else's? No matter what, they're getting my $50. I'm sure there's a back-door deal somewhere, but I can't see this as being anything but anti-customer. This isn't two systems competing and trying to be better, this is two systems competing by making the other worse.
moycon #4 Posted June 19, 2009 Heh I was about to bring up the same point as cimerians with the same examples. Dont sweat it godslabrat, it'll just give you something to look forward to after you beat the game backwards and forwards.
Gregory DG #5 Posted June 19, 2009 How can you NOT have the Joker in a Batman game? That's ridiculous.
moycon #6 Posted June 19, 2009 How can you NOT have the Joker in a Batman game? That's ridiculous. I think he ment the Joker as a playable character. That's not to say the Joker isn't in the game.
Video #7 Posted June 19, 2009 I've seen very little stay "exclusive" for very long (for either system) so don't worry about it. It could be that X-box simply has the better DLC support, so they figure they can just DLC it later....of course, this is just a play to make more money, holding part of a game back and charging for the rest later, which is also wrong IMO. Look, I've already paid $60 for it (or am holding for the full game) I am NOT paying another $10 on top of that for a "patch".

I start looking at them at $30 and most of the ones I have were $20. A *FEW* exceptions may occur but then it's $40. Having said that, paying $10+ for a game upgrade when I spent $20 on the game is out of the question. I don't care if it's the Joker, Yoda, Darth Vader, or whatever. I'm not going to do it. otaku #9 Posted June 20, 2009 I hope this game is as good as the movie which was just so damn good! one of the few (very few) movies I've watched a dozen times in short order
AtticGamer #10 Posted June 20, 2009 Don't you know? It's only possible on PlayStation 3.
xg4bx #11 Posted June 22, 2009 talk to ps3 owners who bought fallout, tomb raider, gta4, call of duty, etc. i guess they chose the "wrong system". those are truly offensive examples of gamers being punished for their choice of consoles. for some reason people only bitch when ps3 gets 1 miniscule perk. Mendon #12 Posted June 26, 2009 I'm also bugged by the fact that there are some great freebie giveaways... additional maps or weapons or clothing or a special edition of a game.... BUT ONLY if you buy from a certain store. I refuse to purchase anything from GameStop and they are constantly getting exclusive items to give away. And quite often Best Buy and Target and Amazon will each have an exclusive item if you buy the game from them. I know the reason that this happens and its not an earth shattering issue. But it really does bug me that I have to pick and choose constantly which freebie item I want to own. Mendon

I dont care what special crap Gamestop shells out money for, Ill never buy anything from them.

Nah, I'd be bitching then too. If you're releasing the games at the same time, for technologically similar systems, there's no reason not to give them the same features. Deliberately withholding features is even worse. I'm also bugged by the fact that there are some great freebie giveaways... additional maps or weapons or clothing or a special edition of a game.... Iron Man in particular had a different freebie at Target, Circuit City, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Amazon, and I think even K-Mart.
xg4bx #15 Posted June 27, 2009 you know the next step for retailers is outright exclusive games. gamestop has dabbled in that but its usually crap nobody wants. but what if someplace like walmart paid to become the exclusive retailer of call of duty, much like best buy does with cds? moycon #16 Posted June 27, 2009 (edited) you know the next step for retailers is outright exclusive games. gamestop has dabbled in that but its usually crap nobody wants. but what if someplace like walmart paid to become the exclusive retailer of call of duty, much like best buy does with cds? Don't see it happening anytime soon. Wal-Mart couldn't/wouldn't pay Activison (or whoever releases the game) to make Call of Duty 5 a Wal-Mart exclusive. Maybe a game like Neopets in Wally World, but Call of Duty? Get real. This isn't the next step. The next step is, Joker as a playable character will be a PS3 exclusive for a little while, then they will release the Joker as a playable character via DLC on Live for some MS points.
