Prototype ? PGP 1 pictures on Digitpress ?

Recommended Posts

Here has someone post some interesting pictures from a PGP 1.

MY PGP1 PICTURES

PS: Save the files as JPG, then you can see them.

But I have never see or hear from such a thing. It looks like, that this is for Atari 2600 VCS, but I am not sure. Someone know more about this?

Its from Answer Software who also make some very rare games for Atari 2600 VCS like Gauntlet. But I have never see this thing? :?

Looks great, maybe you can programm you own games for the Atari, or other consoles. I am not sure, if this is for Atari.

The PGP-1 (Personal Game Programmer) was basically a Game Genie for the 2600. It allowed you to modify variables in a 2600 game to produce interesting results. It didn't actually harm the cart since it stored them in memory, but that limited it to 2K and 4K games (I think).

Answer never got around to selling them though (something about the FCC regulations). But some people got them directly from Answer so there are a few out there. I would say there are less than 10 out there.

:) :) :)

Thanks for the answer. I have never hear from that before. Sound great.

Great, to see how much you can do with the old Atari 2600 VCS. The console gets better and better. At the beginning I have many things not known, like the KidVid and SuperCharger. But I learning more and more.

:) :D

I don't know other console, which has so many futures like the old Atari 2600 VCS. ;)

Shameless plug time. All three editions of Phoenix mention the PGP-1 and the current edition has a picture of it.

Except it wasn't just variables... I mean, you could write a game from scratch if you had the moxy, IIRC.

I should have one of these, but I wasn't a rich child. :-(

I should have one of these!

I should have one also! I was on Answer Software's Press list and received a free copy of Malagai from them! The president of the company, Edward Tang, also gave me a personal demonstration of the PGP-1 along with Gauntlet and Confrontation. (Answer Software didn't have a booth at the 1983 Summer CES. Instead, they rented a suite at a hotel a few miles away from McCormick Center).
