cd-w #1 Posted June 21, 2009 There is an interesting article on Engadget about a SNES USB cartridge adapter. It should be straightforward enough to build something similar for the Atari 2600, to allow actual carts to be played using Stella. The real question is what advantage does this provide (if any) over just dumping the ROM to a file? Chris
CPUWIZ #2 Posted June 21, 2009 That's just a cart dumper, why would you need that, unless you have some kind of unreleased SNES cart? For the 2600, it's far easier to do Eckhard's 7800 mod, to dump carts.
Video #3 Posted June 21, 2009 Yeah, that's a rom ripper, you can't actually play the cart that way though (AFAIK) However....the 2600 is a lot smaller in size, if the transfer is fast enough, and an EMU used it, I so no real reason why not. But yeah, that's really for ripping roms, and the only real use that has over using a preripped rom, is ripping stuff you have that isn't as easily findable, or in some rare cases wheree there are variants of a game and you may want your games variant.
