STICH666 #1 Posted June 23, 2009 I want to get under there and clean the layer of dirt but I can't figure out how to remove them..
nathanallan #2 Posted June 23, 2009 When you take off the top cover, the power switch "knob" glued into place, so have some super glue handy to reattach the little housing thing. When you take the top off, you'll see it. For the volume, however, use a toothbrush to get in there. Funny, I just did this fix to a Genesis today. STICH666 #3 Posted June 23, 2009 So i just break it off?
nathanallan #4 Posted June 23, 2009 The retainer under the power switch, yes. It's a pretty bad design, but that's how Sega did it. Try to break it clean so it goes back on clean. The bond there isn't very solid. Or just don't and use the toothbrush to get as much as you can from the top. I'd actually go that route if it was me. The one I fixed was already broken off. CGQuarterly #5 Posted June 23, 2009 While it is totally dry, just use a toothbrush to scrub in there, and then a can of compressed air to blow all the loosened shit out. Do that a couple of times, and if there is still some residue then use a q-tip with some alcohol, but make sure to do the toothbrush thing first or you're just going to make a mess.
