S1500 #1 Posted June 29, 2009 Best: Fallout 3 - Hacking(I'm an expert on this by now) Fallout 3 - lockpicking(pretty darn good) Bioshock - Hacking(with lots of workarounds) GTA4 - That puzzle arcade game Worst: The Warriors - Lockpicking. I can NEVER get that center tumbler to hit. Some D&D game for genesis - Lockpicking. Strict time limit + wrong pick breaks the lockpick. Any other minigames I should know about? When done right, minigames can be fun.
Video #2 Posted June 29, 2009 I liked Oblivion's Lockpicking (with the inside view of te tumblers) though Fallout 3's is more realistic, without being able to see the tumblers. I hated the droid capture minigame on Lethal Aliance, as the stupid marker was almost always out of range of your lasers if you didn't do them in the right order. As for Letha Aligance, I loved most of the other mini games on it, especially the tumbling blocks one. On Spyro (don't recall wich one) for the DS, I liked the Laser and Mirror's thing to unlock doors. Wish there was a game of just those ty[es of puzzles
S1500 #3 Posted June 29, 2009 How could I have forgotten Oblivion's lockpicking? I despised that. I know the trick to progression is the usually 3rd attempt means it will stick, but it was always breaking for me. Frustrating.
+FujiSkunk #4 Posted June 30, 2009 Worst minigame by far: Big's fishing in Sonic Adventure. Comes close to ruining what is otherwise one of the pinnacles of the Sonic series.
shadow460 #5 Posted June 30, 2009 Best: Dirt tracks in GTA. Worst: Anything in FFX. Most pointless: Hacking in Coded Arms: Contagion
Lord Helmet #6 Posted June 30, 2009 Can I just say this? I hate mini games, and ignore them whenever possible. In all genres.
Video #7 Posted July 4, 2009 I believe Rampage Universe had minigames (after every single level) me and my friends couldn't give to shits less about them, and there was no way to just bypass them (unfortunately, the game was required 3 players, the computer would play any open players, so the levels were often unbeatable (defined by destroying everything on the level befor the bomb goes of) as the computer just swapped through aimlessly running around, hitting the occasionl building, getting in your way, or hitting you. Needless to say, the game sucked ass...but mostly could havve been tolerable, if we could have turned off the stupid ass minigames.
jhd #8 Posted July 5, 2009 At least two RPG games have been ruined for me by mini-games. Both Breath of Fire IV and Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits have a sequence where the player has to catch something that moves just a bit faster than he does. I'm sure there is some trick to it, but I want to play an RPG not a twitch-reflex arcade game! In both cases, the sequence is mandatory, and the game will not progress otherwise. Final Fantasy VII had a similar timing-dependent sequence, but it was skip-able (with a Gameshark ) I have no issue with optional mini-games; as long as they do not impede progress in the main game. mcjakeqcool #9 Posted July 6, 2009 Best mini game: Any minigame on Bully for the 360, except pehaps that Sumo minigame, which is just HARD. Worst mini game: That PONG minigame on Wii Play, blatent rip off of that Plasma Pong mini game for Defender 2000 on the Jaguar.
Ninjabba #10 Posted July 6, 2009 (edited) u gotta luvvv the mini game in MGS 3 (snakes nightmar).. some weird Devil May Cry spin off... very bloody stuff ... maybe the best mini-game ever introduced since even people who hate minigames shouldnt be bothered about hack n slashing a dozen creaters to pieces.. as for terrible mini-games... I dont really mind the mini-games in final fantasy, but it surely sucks how much time and effort you must put into those games in order to fight cool bosses and get rewards... getting there is redundant to the max Edited July 6, 2009 by Ninjabba
