Just wanted to say....

Recommended Posts

I know people have said it before... but I will say it again... The regular people that post here are really such a cool, decent group of people. I don't know how many times I have read someone's post where they are missing some cart or other thing, just out of conversation, and someone else either (if they have) can help them out.. or point them to the right place. It seams that most of the people here have just a fun love of the old systems and game play.. and dont get into the ego side of collecting (i.e. "mine..mine..mine!!!! no one but me should have!!")

ok.. enough about that... just again.. thanks all :)

ps.. speaking about the earlier part of my post.. I am still looking for a $5.00 quadrun.. :D :D .. jk... I will go as high as $9.00

And so far in my dealings Stan has been extremely generous to myself... MOycon as well. I see no reason why anyone else here isn't.

I was a long time rgvc newsgroup reader, and kind of got tired of wading through the spam, eBay auction listings, and other bs. Finding these forums at AtariAge has been very nice! It has renewed my interest in group discussions on one of my favorite topics - classic games!

Occasional review of the rgvc ng appears to me that it is 'not what it used to be'. Is it the superior format of these forums? Have these forums replaced the newsgroups?

Good question. Yeah I've noticed w/ the evolution of web-based message boards, a lot of the newsgroups aren't what they used to be. I still check them out every so often, but these boards (for example) just seem so much more active. Another resource for gaming talk is IRC in #rgvc on EFNET, but that's really "on-the-fly" and depending on the moment, they could be talking about anything. ;-P

I actually found my way to AtariAge through the RGVC newsgroup, so if it wasn't for them I wouldn't be here today. Personally I find +BOTH+ groups to be invaluable. The love of retro-gaming is both here and there. The trading and wheeling and dealing is both here and there. The all around nice people to talk to and discuss gaming past and present (with one notable RGVC troll exception) are both here and there. Personally I need both; I wouldn't settle for one w/o the other. :D

All kidding aside, I am in total agreement with MegaManFan on this one.

I tell all my friends that AtariAge is a MUST if they are a fan of the Atari and retrogaming. I have learned more here than any other website, newsgroup, IRC channel, etc. The AtariAge forums are simply a public display of affection for retrogaming, and it is catchy.

I've actually been wondering if a certain Bot with Epiplepsy.. if you know who I mean.. was now AtariAge's own Dr. Smith, Part Deux.

Atari Age, as the kids say today, is "damn skippy". Yes, it is.

Or as Stan would say, it's Mega-Shibby

I think you are right here .. I too have made the transition from RGVC to atariage .. because my focus is mostly Atari.

I still hit RGV (Vectrex) daily though where all Vectrex conversation is happening.

People who collect classic games have a certain reverence for the stuff. I remember the first Cinciclassic where so many people came together .. and noone stole or argued over anything anyone had there. That general sharing attitude led the organizers to have the second Cinciclassic happen in the biggest room of their own business office. The third and now the fourth Cinciclassic are in a Mall where people passing by can walk through. It requires a little more watching .. but there were no incidents during the third show.

Yeah- this is a great site, just full of friendly folks. There are gamers, like myself, tinkerers, collectors, programmers.... It's all here! 8)

This is really an awesome sight. Everytime that I find someone who has an interest in Atari, I mention this site and they are blown away by the amount of information as well as the friendly of the members. The variety of topics is also great.

Would I say something like that?

Yer darn skippy I would! This site is off the heezy-fasheezy! All the "regulars" are and always have been mega-cool people, and every new person just makes the place better and better.

I love this place and its people! :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
