FlightSuit #26 Posted July 5, 2009 Both movie posters show the twin towers to be ridiculously close to each other You're right. I never really noticed that error, 'cause every time I've looked at either poster, I've been more distracted by the fact that the monsters, and in the case of Kong, the human female he's holding, are wildly out of proportion to the towers. It's pretty common in monster movie posters for the size of the monster to be insanely exaggerated for dramatic effect, but that does create quite a problem if you're also going to depict the monster holding a person in his hand. Say, who here has seen Toho's King Kong Escapes? What about King Kong vs. Godzilla? Cheesy goodness!
Zap! #27 Posted July 6, 2009 What the hell is king kong supposed to be holding in that picture? Looks like a mangled train to me.
FlightSuit #28 Posted July 6, 2009 Now that you mention it, it kind of does look like a train! This may have been in reference to the part of the film where Kong attacks a New York subway train. If so, this, like so many other elements of the poster, is rather ineptly done, 'cause the object in Kong's hand looks a lot more like an Amtrak commuter train than an NYC subway. FlightSuit #29 Posted July 6, 2009 Since I brought it up, here's some good, cheesy, Kong action for you: King Kong Escapes, 1967 Note that this was not, strangely, a sequel to the same company's earlier film, King Kong vs. Godzilla; it was, in fact, a live-action, screen adaptation of a Saturday morning King Kong cartoon show. Also, the "Dr. Who" in this film has no relationship whatsoever to the United Kingdom's Doctor Who.
Cynn #30 Posted July 6, 2009 (edited) This has nothing to do with videogames, but I thought you might enjoy the following movie poster: I'm proud to say I own an original copy of this poster. I'm sure it went way up in value when 9/11 happened, but I ain't sellin' it! Though this film was made in 1973, it wasn't released in the US until the middle of 1976, and the poster's design was a blatant attempt to cash in on the popularity of the 1976 King Kong remake: The irony here is that Godzilla vs. Megalon was a far more enjoyable and interesting film. Jet Jaguar RULES! Too bad the lower movie wasn't actually called: "King Kong For Christmas!" This year, Santa delivers TERROR! FlightSuit #31 Posted July 6, 2009 Hah, hah, I didn't even notice that! Maybe Kong was just on top of the World Trade Center 'cause he was trying to find a chimney.
Mord #32 Posted July 6, 2009 Soooo, they took the Statue of Liberty out of the Wii version of Punch Out? Why? To avoid offending any Ghostbusters II fans? So all the terrorists playing their Wiis won't get angry at the great satan US? Geeze. PC is getting out of hand. "Getting"? PC has been out of hand for a LONG time. One time in school I said "I don't like the color black" when talking about some sort of cartridge and the teacher (happened to be black) demanded an apology. I said no and was suspended since the school just has to take her side even though she was in the wrong.
