I discovered the Super Breakout is actually a new variation, or possibly was on the original list, but I removed it until I confirmed it. It is a 1978 label with a sliding protector (Cart 2). This will be added over the weekend. Also, the manual was a 1986 Made in Taiwan which wasn't on my list, so that is also new. I'm considering doing something which will be a very long process. I thought about documenting exactly which cartridge goes with which manual in which box. This will help know which variations go with which. The problems that can arise are twofold. One is that my variation list consistently changes when I find new variations. I am trying to keep all variations in order of release, at least what I can guess or figure out from the info I have. The bigger issue would be if I receive a complete in box game, is the game contents all original to the box. I receive empty boxes all the time, or ones missing the manuals and such. I put the manuals and carts in empty boxes as best I can to try and keep originality. Like no circuit board protector would go in later releases like 1985 or after, and even the 1985-1986 may have sliding protectors. When I receive a later release game and it has what looks to be appropriate game/manual/box, then I can assume this was all original, like the case with the Super Breakout I now have. It will be a slow and arduous process, but probably worth it in the long run for informational purposes. The only true way of knowing what original contents came in a box would be to open brand new sealed items. I have a few games in the latest lot that were still sealed at the top and the bottom was opened, or came unglued. These were not removed for the most part as I saw I could not access the actual cartridge inside due to the cardboard. So I'm going to begin making the list as best I can but will not publish it until I can get a decent amount of games on the list. Probably will take several years if I ever do publish it. Anyway, I'll keep on working on the lot I picked up. Though I don't think I have any more new variations, I am adding printer/dates for many boxes, so some new information is being compiled. It is the 1987 Printed in Hong Kong box. Am in the process of putting it up right now. Cartridge inside is NTSC. I think this is the first NTSC boxed version I've come across. I'm integrating it with my stock and fixing my word document so it's accurate. Once I get finished with that I'm going back to the 3rd party software. I'm going to do a list of all the companies that are missing, though there will be no links yet. In fact I am going to do that this evening. Once I'm done integrating the manuals, I'll finish the cart/box pages on all the 3rd party items. I'll then get to the manuals which will take a while to do. When working on the 3rd party pages, if there are few manuals or even just one, I'll try and create the manual page for it like I did with the Selchow and Righter Glib. Anyway, just keeping everyone abreast of what is going on. If for some reason you see an error with the site (for some reason I forgot to put the back of the Adv of Tron 1st box scan), let me know. If I'm missing a scan, there should be a black box place holder saying I need the scan. If there is no scan or place holder, then something went wrong and I probably forgot to put it. So just let me know. And if you have anything I'm missing, again I'd be grateful if you can scan and send them. When I get to Sears, that's where I think I'll need the most help. Philflound Posted September 18, 2016 Author Share Posted September 18, 2016 Decided before entering all the 3rd party info, while integrating all the manuals, I wanted to make sure that I have all the scans of everything listed that I can get. So I'm first working on acquiring all the scans on to my computer. Will take way long to get it on the website, so like I mentioned before, uploading all scans and creating pages for manuals will be last. But I want at least copies of everything ready to go so it'll be much easier to do when I get to it. Plus I want to make sure I don't sell copies I only have 1 of, or if I'm getting them from websites, the websites for some reason doesn't have them anymore and then I'm at a loss. I'm currently working on Activision. What I've discovered for the early Activision games is that the original listings were with a TM trademark next to Activision and somewhere along the line, they went with the ® registered mark. There are a few titles with this on both boxes and manuals. Some titles are Barnstorming, Boxing, and Stampede that come to mind. There are a couple more, but they don't come to mind. Maybe Fishing Derby and Freeway. Anyway, all 3rd party companies are listed that have US released games. Foreign games may be shown and listed under these companies. Philflound Posted November 17, 2016 Author Share Posted November 17, 2016 Sorry I haven't done too much. Been busy with other things. Just picked up a rather large lot of nice condition boxed games. Looking at the first two games, I discovered a variation with the label of Worm War I. The description says short label for the worm letters, which I think was there for a very long time. The picture shows the normal size label. I just acquired the short label and will have that up in a few minutes to view. I then found the 3rd Dragster box, so that will also be put up in a few minutes, so I think I have all the regular (4 total) Dragster boxes. This one is Rev 3, which fits perfectly for the one that was missing, between 2 and 4. It'll take a few days to go through all the carts and boxes. There weren't too many manuals in the lot, so I don't anticipate adding much if any of those to the list. Anyway, I'll keep you posted as to all new additions. I never had the short label posted, but rather had the end label for the long label. So all I did was put the correct end label for the worm letters. 3rd box I am looking at is Adventure and discovered another NEW variation! This is the white warranty box with the copyright info inside dated 9/81 Adpak. Have to adjust what is there and put it in the correct order. Will be putting up the scan within the next 15 minutes or so. I'm so happy I'm finding new items to show everyone. I found a new Tapeworm, though I haven't gotten to Spectravision on the site yet. I also found a Basic Programming with the white warranty box, copyright inside. I just scanned it and am working on getting it live on the site. Will continue to go through the boxes through the weekend because I'm stuck in FL by myself. Couldn't get a van for an affordable price to go back to NJ and get the next load of stuff. Anyway, I'll post any new listings after I'm done. The version I received was slightly different than what was on Atarimania. The normal version has the product number AG-042-003, which is how each manual ends for Absolute, -003. The one I got was reversed with the wrong product number AG-043-02. It also has stripes like the box on pages 1, 2 and 8. I'm working on getting the Absolute manuals on the website sometime today. Here is the last page of the error in the meantime. BTW, this came with the original box and cart, only the manual was different. Philflound Posted July 11, 2018 Author Share Posted July 11, 2018 I received an email from Schitti this morning asking what's been going on and why I haven't been on. My move from NJ, now almost 2 1/2 years is still not complete. I've had both physical and financial hardships. The latest is 2 kidney stones which I kept wondering where I was getting the money to pay for the surgery (1st one) as they wanted a couple grand up front. Last week my storage unit leaked and it looks like I lost about another 7 long boxes of comic books. If you recall somewhere I posted (or I think I did) that 2 years ago the truck I was moving in caught fire and I lost 17 boxes then. So some of these books that survived the fire have not been lost to water. I've never given up on my website. It's just a matter of priorities. I thank everyone who has thought of me and wondering what has been going on. What I'd like to happen is in the next 7 months, I want to buy a house, clean out all but one storage unit, get all my stuff set up on display and get back to working on the variation site. Right now I'm working on Sears and will begin to upload what I've done. I did find a couple of new Atari box variations. The "ninety day limited warranty" version for Air Sea Battle (it's on the site now) and Canyon Bomber (just got this today and will scan over the weekend) have been discovered. I'm going to do searches on other games that should have these variations along with other boxes I feel may have variations that I have not discovered. I'll update the Space Invaders cart this weekend too. I have to adjust the listings accordingly to keep the list in chronological order. Each time I find a new variation, I try to keep everything in release order as best I can. My goal this summer is to complete all the carts and boxes that are not shown. Afterwards I'll begin working on the manuals (very tedious). I did update CBS with lots of foreign versions. I'll also try and update the PDF file on the site to correspond with everything shown on the site. Please have patience. This has been 10 years of the site now and a few years longer than that when I decided to take on this venture. I'll try and put any new updates on here that I find. First, if you have scans of any Atari boxes or cartridges I do not have, please send them to me. You'll see the holes with the blank photos. Also, if you have any new items to add, also send me scans and give me as much detail as possible. Look at my listings to see exactly what I describe. If you have any boxes from Atari or possibly a couple of the larger 3rd party that list printer and dates on the tiny flaps, I can use that info too. Activision and Coleco come to mind. The list below are boxes I believe should exist based on evidence. It's possible cartridges with a specific year, for example 1985, were released in 1986 boxes. When AA was transfered, some of the updates I had made during the past few months did not stay, so I needed to re-upload links, images, and pages. I'm working to complete Data Age, but would like to have scans of the side of boxes. I'll need one of the Sssnake variants, not sure which until I see which one I have for selling this weekend. All my stuff is packed away, so I can't scan my personal collection or else this would have been done a while ago. So I'll try and get Data Age finished soon. I'm also looking to complete more of the smaller 3rd party companies in completion with manuals, and those that have been up on the website without the manuals, I'm looking to put the manuals on too. Mainly, when my hard drive crashed a few years ago, my MS Word document wasn't matching my site. Actually the document was actually missing things that are on the site. So Activision has been fixed. I'll probably be adding a few variations with Activision, mainly the foreign ones, but will have to research what I'm missing. Thanks to Schitti, I got the Freeway multi-language box up. I discovered another box variant for Space Jockey by US Games. Though I haven't done US Games yet, I'll be working on it over the next week hopefully. In the meantime, Parker Brothers carts will be finished soon and hopefully by the end of the weekend, I'll add all the boxes. Manuals may have to wait as I want to get working on the other 3rd party companies I have not gotten to. Sears I'll probably get back to after US Games. US Games is going to be real fun, especially Space Jockey as I have 12 cartridge variations with this game. I may need to research the Vid Tec boxes a little more, but will put on the site whatever I have documented. Space Jockey for some reason has the most at 4 different boxes now. I purchased 17 boxed games and updated more printer companies/dates with Atari and Activision besides finding this new Space Jockey box variant. I also discovered another US Games warranty variant. Though warranties will be added far in the future. Spectravision is probably going to be the hardest to work on with the boxes due to the reflectivity of the foil. I'll see what's available because many of the scans I have are unreadable. So this may be one of the last 3rd party companies that I will complete. Anyway, if you have any information I haven't documented, I would appreciate it. I discovered with Othello I had versions 1 and 2 reversed. But due to me getting a copy and discovering that the thinner font box had an earlier printer date, I could determine the thinner font box was the first release. I originally had it as the second variant. So I switched them last night. Speaking of switching. If I determine that any boxes are out of order, I will change their listing number. I'm trying to document the correct order of all boxes. I know how the design of the Atari boxes already were released, but sometimes the same design has minor variations (like Sky Diver for instance) and thus I put the same design in the correct order based on dates when the boxes were printed. So, again if you find any mistakes, new variants, or scans I'm missing, feel free to help out so we can have as accurate a list as possible. Thanks. Any box I do not have the sides scans I put a blank place holder. For Action Force, it worked fine. For Data Age, it works fine. When I put it for Amidar and Frogger II, I get a broken image. Funny thing is that it's the same exact image I'm using for all of them. I don't understand why some should be broken and others not. They look normal in my Front Page pages. I may try and copy the scan and use the copy for the ones that are broken to see if that works. Any advice if this doesn't work? If not, I may just leave the broken images until I can get actual scans of the sides of the boxes. Phil Ok, it seemed to work, at least for Amidar. I'll try and fix the other one. I'm confused but at least it looks normal. Everything seems to be working fine now. I also updated the PDF file, so it's the most accurate document as of this very moment. 150 pages. That will change though since I'm actively working on the site and adding and making changes, but at least everything corresponds correctly with what is shown. At least I hope so.
