Sonja
Is there a cable I can use to hook up Sega Genesis console to RCA video and audio, instead of RF? I have to first figure out if my Genesis is 1 or 2 or other. Then maybe I can buy something like http://racketboy.com/store/sega-genesis/se...-av-cables.html Edited July 13, 2009 by Sonja
The MilkMan
yes. It even has the s-video connection. I have a (OEM made by and for the genesis) Genesis cable. Try here on marketplace or search ebay for genesis av cable

So make sure you but the right one.
16-bit
If you have a model 2, you might want something like THIS instead. It's a little bit more, but it has both L and R audio instead of just one. I bought the same one for my replacement model 2 and it works great. Sonja
How can I identify whether I have a version 1 or 2 of the console?
chrisbid
the genesis 1 is rectangular in shape, has a headphone jack on the front of the console along with sliding volume control. the genesis 2 is square in shape and is mostly flat the genesis 1 share the same AV port as the commodore 64 and other platforms while the genesis 2 has a proprietary AV port. Sonja
Cool! I have model 2 with black buttons instead of red. Thanks, guys!!!! <
STICH666
You're welcome. The one with the red buttons is the Megadrive which i believe is the European one as the Japanese Model 2 has a sliding power switch.
