BigO #3 Posted July 17, 2009 They might look the same on the outside but they're really nothing alike, functionally speaking. The paddle controller is a variable resistor while the driving controller is a set of contacts that make and break in a specific way as you rotate the knob (research Gray Code encoder for more information on the concept).
