4Ks
Looks like you got a pretty sweet deal! If only I was able to find things like that in the wild...

rockz1200
How do you go about cleaning the slot pins in the system? All I get is a black screen or fluttering. I cleaned the carts so dirty carts cant be the issue. Edited July 19, 2009 by rockz1200
nathanallan
My favorite way is to use a piece of cardboard (two of them, one wet with alcohol the other dry, both cut to fit the slot) go in with alcohol first with a few good in and out motions, then with the dry one the same way. Croc7800
Nice lot you got there, I love my 2600 vader. About the cart slot cleaning, a member here suggested taking a used gift card or expired credit card, cutting it to size and putting a piece of an old shirt or something around it to use to clean the cart slot. Mine didn't need it but I did it anyways. It pulled up some dust, works like a charm
midnight magicman
Here's how I clean the cartridge slot. Not sure if it's the safest way, but I've never had probs. I buy those small felt disc milk filters (you can get them from most tractor supply/fleet places) for filtering maple syrup. I take one of these & fold it many times over a butter knife. I then dip the felt covered butter knife into rubbing alcohol half way then press it into the cart slot & use a gentle in-&-out motion (reserve your perverse comments please), remove it & move down a little further on the slot & repeat this process. After no more gunk shows up on the filter, I flip the felt so the dry half is covering the butter knife blade. I then use the same motions & procedures to remove any excess rubbing alcohol. I just let it air dry overnight. Peace
rockz1200
I cleaned the pins but it still shows random lines and such when I put a cart in. What power settings does the Atari 2600 use? Edited July 19, 2009 by rockz1200
xXUlTiMaTe-SiNXx
Nice, vaders are kinda expensive to thats pretty damn good for $15! nice find!
StanJr
may be dirty contacts on the carts. Especially if you are trying that Pitfall! cart, you may need to do some wiggling, or the classic Activision "back out."
AtariLeaf
If none of these things work, try reseating the 3 chips inside. It could be the TIA.
rockz1200
My carts are clean but I still get the black screen, color lines, slanted moving lines. Chances of it being dead?
Shawn
My carts are clean but I still get the black screen, color lines, slanted moving lines. Chances of it being dead? I'd take those 2 mario games off your hands if you want

the.golden.ax
Why won't it play? Test your power supply, thats usually the broken part in 'wild' systems. AX
rockz1200
I tried the power adapter that came with the system(Not Atari Brand 9v DC 500ma) and a universal adapter at 9v DC 600ma and it still has issues.

rockz1200
The Atari powers on fine but the video is strange. It either gets black screens, slanted lines, random lines like this- Edited July 19, 2009 by rockz1200
AtariLeaf
What is TIA? http://www.atariage.com/2600/archives/sche..._tia/index.html If those are the results you're getting after cleaning the slot and the games this would be my next guess. If you're lucky, reseating the chip might do the trick, if not you'll need a replacement chip. Edited July 19, 2009 by AtariLeaf
moycon
When you see that, if you remove the cart does anything change? To me that just looks like an Atari turned on with any cart inserted in the slot is why I ask.
