emkay #26 Posted July 22, 2009 The demo itself is rather boring. The SID tune is ok after you know what the musican's intention was. Seeing the graphics, we clearly could state that the C64 got blessed with artists, even though the colours are "off". Watching the 3D scene, someone really should find a solution for having a 3D scene on the Atari by using the PM graphic's shapes controlled via DLIs. It's just like using 10 cpu cycles and to move up to 7680 visuable pixel on the screen... overlaying a nice gr. 9, gr. 10, gr. 11 background.... TMR #27 Posted July 22, 2009 You know that I know what you're saying. I'm just saying that I can not like some stuff for whatever reason I want and it matters not one bit to me if every other c64 coder in the world thinks its the bees knees [shrugs] Just offering explanations, is all. PeteD #28 Posted July 22, 2009 I know, I think we're just at cross purposes. I'd hoped that some people would know that I know whats going on and didn't really need it all explaining. I'm not trying to say "I don't give a shit about all these peoples amazing code, hard work and clever ideas for coming up with this stuff in the 1st place". All I'm trying to say is if I don't like it, explaining something to me that I already have a fair idea of isn't going to change my mind. Just like I don't give a rats about flash cars and things. Doesn't mean I'm not impressed by them and also doesn't mean I don't know how a car moves.
Rybags #29 Posted July 22, 2009 Agreed to a point. As a programmer, you see the sprite scroller that extends 320 pixels across in the bottom border, with variable pitch text and go "Gee, that's nifty!". But, aside from the background that scrolls slightly slower, and the colour change per scanline, it's something that you could do in Basic on the A8. So, from a perspective of another computer owner, it's just something you might see in every second game you've played for 20 years.
tebe #30 Posted July 22, 2009 why emulators like Vice v2.1, CCS64 v3.7 crashed with Andropolis, Still Ready, 3deh, FauxVisage ? any new demo on C64 and emulators crashed
Lazarus #31 Posted July 22, 2009 any new demo on C64 and emulators crashed You have to enable "true drive emulation" and at best also only have 1 emulated disk drive.
