Tezz #2 Posted July 22, 2009 (edited) Nice sid work on that demo. Especially liked the Enter the Dragon part and the recreation of Peter Connelly's version of Forbidden Forrest. I always really liked that. Track from 4:30 onwards rocks. Nice filter work. Edited July 22, 2009 by Tezz
emkay #3 Posted July 23, 2009 I personally like this one more. SID usage is better and GFX are better presented than in Adropolis. But, hey , really, some of those FX cry for being adapted for the Atari. Particular the Ninja/Bruce Lee part.
Jetboot Jack #4 Posted July 23, 2009 Have to say I MUCH preferred Andropolis, despite the cheesy chessboards, much more impressive visuals and music IMHO... I felt this one had little visual flair by comparison with Andropolis - despite some of the tuneage being good... sTeVE
frenchman #5 Posted July 23, 2009 Is he the weird guy who lost the Atari vs Commodore argument here a while back? Anyway, it's a Commodore 64 -only link so it should be under 'Classic Gaming General', as this heading states 'Atari 8-bit Computers', can't you read? Heaven/TQA #6 Posted July 23, 2009 Frenchman... no... Oswald was sooo involved in the discussions here that I need to post it here... an the 8bit guys are mainly in this forum so not in the 2600 nor programming nor others what I can see... and as we are talking about adapting techniques or art to a8 why not posting it here? emkay #7 Posted July 23, 2009 and as we are talking about adapting techniques or art to a8 why not posting it here? If it only happens
frenchman #8 Posted July 23, 2009 (edited) I don't agree, it's just a C64 demo, nothing to do with A8, so it should be under Classic Gaming General. I'm not gonna put NES gaming under 5200 section. Edited July 23, 2009 by frenchman
Heaven/TQA #9 Posted July 23, 2009 but it is a demo...so classic gaming would be wrong, too...
frenchman #10 Posted July 23, 2009 So you gonna be pedantic as a frenchman, if Classic Gaming is wrong, you have to stick it under the section 'Programming', please. Anyway, doesn't matter, Oswald was the guy involved in the A8 vs C64 thread, and he always got it wrong, I remember now.
Heaven/TQA #11 Posted July 23, 2009 No... to be honest... I don't care... but got your point... next time I will mark it as off topic...
frogstar_robot #12 Posted July 23, 2009 Anyway, doesn't matter, Oswald was the guy involved in the A8 vs C64 thread, and he always got it wrong, I remember now. Not wrong necessarily but he was dismissive of any A8 advantage that couldn't be used with C64 style programming and he made it very obvious that he thought anyone who preferred A8s lacked the good taste he has. He also exhibited the common Commodore fanboi pathology of only thinking Jay Miner a genius when his work carries a Commodore nameplate. Any Atarian who thought Miner a genius for the 2600 and the A8 as well was just stealing glory from Commodore....etc....etc....etc... I do not disparage his Commodore knowledge. He is a very skilled C-64 demo coder. That doesn't absolve him of being abusive and arrogant here though.
