Cartridge to put Homebrew games on?

Recommended Posts

Sorry if this is a frequent question and it might be more of a 2600 question.

I see many awesome Homebrew games on the forum etc.. But way to few actually have cartridges for their game, so I'm stuck with the free .bin to use with Stella wich is kinda "meh..", if that makes any sense..

Google and the AA search failed to answer me, is there any "USB/FireWire Cartridge" that you can put the the .bin homebrew and play on the Atari 2600? That would be awesome!

I'm quite sure that the NES has a USB Cartridge that you can load up with the rom or whatever.

Have a search for Cuttle Cart 2 (CC2), Cuttle Cart 1, Kroko Cart and Harmony for solutions. None of them are currently in production. However, Harmony will be released in the near future. For something that existed back in the day have a look for Starpath Aracadia Supercharger.

Groovy!

The Harmony will be amazing based on a quick search.

Also Provided you can make a PCB, you can make a cart, or if you have a broken or double 2600 cart you could get a compatible E/EPROM and swap it with the old one. If you have an EPROM programmer and the compatible BIN.

I've never personally done it with a 2600 cart, only with NES and SNES carts, so I don't know the detailed technical info but it should be do-able. Also if you have a ZIF Socket for your E/EPROM you can just take it out and re-program it everytime you want a different game.

Somebody with more technical knowledge of 2600 Carts can fill in the holes, but that's about the genreal overview.
