rhindlethereddragon #1 Posted July 26, 2009 I just installed a version of "MAMEwah" and it works good except that some of the games have a bunch of squiggly horizontal lines through them, like a TV with interference or bad reception. I'm going to take a wild guess and say that perhaps it is because these particular ROMS are in PAL instead of NTSC? Is there any way to make them run (some sort of setting?) without the horizontal lines? The games are still playable, but it's very, very annoying. Anyone else ever have this problem? Thanks. yuppicide #2 Posted July 26, 2009 (edited) Why don't you try running a game with just regular MAME and then you can determine if it's a MAME problem perhaps or MAMEWah problem.. does the problem exist in both or not? I personally run Hyperspin and have no issues. Take a looksee: It has wheels for every system and you can have separate themes for them. You can take any wheels out you do not want. You can have preview movies for every game.. I have a preview for just about ever game in MAME, so when I move over a game that preview starts playing. If you just leave your MAME system on it'll randomly select a game every now and then and play it. You can also make lists.. so if you want only your favorite games to show up on a wheel they can. Maybe you'll get better answers posting this over in Emulation. Edited July 26, 2009 by yuppicide
Rybags #3 Posted July 26, 2009 Most old arcade games just ran 60 Hz monitors... there isn't really PAL/NTSC versions as such. Maintaining MAME and it's ROMsets is almost a fulltime job... your best bet is to get a release that works well with the ROMs you have and stick with it. Often games are dumped and emulated but certain parts of the ROM aren't there and added later - this often breaks support unless you have the updates needed for the ROMset for that game. As for "horizontal squiggly lines", it could be a sync issue. There are options in MAME like "Sync to vertical refresh" that you can try. Best to set options like that for the global options, not individually by game.

I tried everything on the keyboard to get that option to come up to no avail
