monitor master question

Recommended Posts

Assuming that your talking about jacks on the monitor master, most likely the ouput jacks are for audio-out, to plug a couple of speakers in or to plug into a stereo amplifier with an RCA cord. The inputs are also probably for audio/video. Red&white are audio, yellow is generally video (composite), it may have two video inputs, like on some Commodore monitors, this is the equivelent to S-video with the correct cable, similiar to Atari 8-bit chroma/lumina if you know anything about 8-bits.

they may still be for audio/video, I don't know what else they WOULD be for...you may have to just go the trial&error route hooking them up to audio/video and see what happens...by the way, what IS the Monitor Master exactly :?:

what IS the Monitor Master exactly

Its a small box that let you use 2 monitors on the ST one color monitor and the other mono monitor, not at the same time it just swiches one to the other with a push of a buttion.

I dont have mono monitor why I have the Monitor Master I dont know :?

Doesn't this "monitor master" have labels on the ports?

I'm guessing you have some sort of generic monitor master. There was a product called "Monitor Master" from Practical Solutions that sold very well back in the old days. I've seen knockoffs, but I don't know if they're better or worse than the "original", but at least the Practical Solutions one has labels on all the ports. But anyway,...

The 2 RCA jacks on the Practical Solutions Monitor Master are composite video out and audio out. I remember (and still do) use it to crank up the volume when playing games. 8) Gauntlet II or Wings of Death through a boombox is awesome! :music: Unfortunately, the composite video out can only be used if your ST has an RF modulator. So ST computers with no RF modulator can't use it. :(

Hi guys,

I'm also thinking of getting a Monitor Master to go along with my 1040STe. IIRC, the STe had an RF modulator built in. Does that mean that I can then hook up the 1040STe with any TV or even the Commodore 1084s monitors?

Cheers,

Don
