Atari Cartridge Dumps and AtariGraphics

Recommended Posts

Forgive me if this is a stupid question or if it's been answered elsewhere. I've been looking for a copy of the AtariGraphics cartridge (part number RX8054; sold with the Atari Light Pen) in executable format. I own several copies of this cartridge; I'm merely interested in finding a version that I can load from a self-booting disk image using MyIDE instead. Can anyone give me any pointers on where to find it, or if it isn't available, how I can go about dumping the cartridge myself?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks, I'll look over that information later.

Just to clarify: I already know how to create disk images and how to use them with MyIDE; I just need to find (or to find out how to create) a binary version of AtariGraphics. Specifically, I'm thinking about copying it into an Atari DOS disk image as AUTORUN.SYS so it will load automatically on startup.

I only just came across this thread about cartridge copying (it didn't turn up in my earlier search for some reason). I've tried a few cartridge dumpers, but I haven't been able to get a reliable copy of AtariGraphics. The dumps I've been able to create are all unstable and crashing, so either I'm doing something wrong or the program needs more than simply dumping the cartridge to make it work.

I'll keep working on it, but if anyone already has of a working binary version of this program, I'd love to hear about it. Thanks again!

I'd say the cartridge probably has protection, ie - overwrites addresses in the cart region.

So you'd likely want to see if you can find a cracked XEX or ATR version.

I think you're right. I tried one of my raw dumps of AtariGraphics inside an emulator as a 16K cartridge ROM, and it seems to work perfectly, so I'm certain that the dump itself is fine. I haven't seen this ROM anywhere else, so I've attached it to this message in case anyone else might find it useful.

I don't know if anyone has ever created a cracked version of AtariGraphics, but I'll keep my eyes open.

Another issue I've noticed: the behavior of the light pen seems to be very erratic on machines with MyIDE installed (at least on my machines; I've tried it with AtariGraphics and with Blazing Paddles so far). Interestingly, the light gun seems to work normally on these same machines.
