Did anyone pick this game up? Any opinions on it?

I had skipped it because I simply didn't want to squint at the DS's screen or deal with any goofy touchscreen shenanigans. But it has KOS-MOS, so I'm wondering if I should snag it.

its challenging but definitely amusing. the game is total fan service, plenty of jiggling girls and sexual innuendo. its kind of a standard jrpg (the battle controls are semi-realtime, meaning you actually push the buttons based on "action points" not just read a menu) but the witty writing makes it worthwhile.

surprisingly the graphics aren't squint inducing. the characters in battle are very large and brightly colored and the overworld maps arent hyper detailed or "busy".they do their job but theyre not amazing, theyre intentionally kept relatively simple.

i usually hate rpgs but im greatly enjoying this game. the humor is a refreshing change from standard rpg templates.

How much time to you have with inputs? When it's a character's turn, does it wait until I decide on something or does the timer start immediately?

The videos I'm seeing with Kos-Mos, Telos, and the two main characters from Namco X Capcom make it look appealling.

you can take your time. its hard to explain lol. while youre attacking you can press the d-pad to swap in another character and keep the combo string going. you can also air juggle the enemies so if you have enough action points, you could end up with a 5000 damage 20 hit combo.

check youtube or gametrailers for gameplay footage. im doing a terrible job explaining, it makes more sense when you see it.

I'm seeing there's a soundtrack which comes with the game. Is this included as standard, or was there a special edition?

i think the soundtrack is standard. the last couple releases from atlus like this game, knights in the nightmare and dark spire have come with a soundtrack. i personally haven't seen one sold without it.

Well, Amazon cancelled an order for a statue which I had made some time back. Since I suddenly had $50 free, I decided to order it and see if I liked it. I figure I took a bigger chance on Cross Edge, so why not?

Picked it up, and I admit it wasn't what I expected. You really need to thoroughly read through how the combat system works. The fan service is clearly there as mentioned. I may pick this back up again, but I want to clear Devil Survivor first.

The game arrived yesterday. I put an hour into it, so I'm nowhere near passing any kind of judgement on it.

I will say the combat system hasn't impressed me straight out of the gate. Of course, I'm currently coming to this directly from Xenosaga II's overcomplicated stock/break system and Cross Edge's insanely awesome combo system, so this game is just coming across as pounding the A button 5 times with each character at certain intervals.

But the characters look nice. It hasn't buried me in tutorials. So far so good.
