A Closer Look at Private Eye

Recommended Posts

A newer column at SilverMoonXtreme, this time StanJr takes on Activisions Private Eye, tips tricks and Stan even made maps!!!

A Closer Look at Private Eye

This is really a wonderful article that Stan Jr. wrote. And, I agree completely that Private Eye is a great game that is deserving of much more attention than it gets.

Be careful not to accidentally read the spoiler solutions if you haven't played/solved the game yet!

Thanks, Harry! High praise coming from a cat such as yourself.

I hope everyone gets some use from the maps! I know Private Eye can be maddening without them!

Finally, so well deserved respect for one of Activision's best games.

Excellent work Stan! Think I'll pop the game in this evening after work.

I snagged Private Eye years and years ago at a KBee closeout sale.

This was back when the front end of the store had tables FULL of new in box Atari games some being sold for as little as $1 (Defender)

I picked up Private Eye for $5

Man what an AWESOME game. You know I never could any of the cases beyond the first one.

I see now now according to StanJr's article the second case is one of the hardest which might explain why I never moved on.

In spite of that I would play the first and second case over and over because I thought the game was so awesome!

About a week before this article came out, I had my first extended session of Private Eye, and made it past Case #1 after a few attempts (with some measure of aggravation). It's a pity that I didn't have it when I was a kid, as back then I would've been more willing to put the time into unraveling it.

Still, it's certainly a fun and creative game. Should I decide to take on Cases #2-5, this "Closer Look" will no doubt be very useful!

I recommend trying the cases out first with just the general tips I gave at the beginning, but if you get stuck resort to the maps and finally as a last resort, the solutions.

Case #2 is very hard, do not get discouraged. If it is giving you fits, try Case #3 and come back to #2 later.
