jacobus
I've been seeing some really out-to-lunch ebay auctions recently and thought this would be a good place to share some of them. Here's one that caught my eye today for being rather numerically challenged (both model # and price wise) Title: ATARI 1200XL System Starting Price: $500 Description: Original ATARI 1200XL with a TV, PERCOM 5.25" Floppy Drive, ATARI 410 Tape Drive, two joysticks, an Epson printer (not shown) with ATARI to EPSON printer converter, ATARI BASIC and WORDPROCESSOR cartridges, and >25 floppies with many games and utilities. All cables and power supplies included. Take "as is". No implied guarantee whatsoever. I recently tried some of the floppies, some games work, others don't. In general, the whole system is operable and kept in good working condition despite it being >25 years old. You will be surprised and will likely enjoy the early video game technology. spookt
Aren't you a little short for a Storm Trooper? Oops sorry I meant Isn't that a little short for a 1200XL? Looks more like an 800XL from here. (Cart port on top is a bit of a give away)

FastRobPlus
Maybe they are adding the 410 with the 800 and rounding down to get 1200
+Larry
Perhaps it's that Percom drive that drove up the price... -Larry
+bob1200xl
No,,, not the Percom - it's the TV. I'd pay big bucks to ship that all over the US. Bob Perhaps it's that Percom drive that drove up the price... -Larry

atariksi
Maybe they are adding the 410 with the 800 and rounding down to get 1200 If you let XL = 1.025 then: 410 + 800(1.025) = 1200(1.025). So you won't have to round down. Solve for E in XE given XL as an exercise for reader.

spookt
Yeah - I saw that yesterday. Who would want to buy a (bad) photo copy of a fairly common book anyway?
Atari Smeghead
Yeah - I saw that yesterday. Who would want to buy a (bad) photo copy of a fairly common book anyway? You're missing the bigger picture. This guy spent HOW MUCH TIME photo-copying 458 pages?! If that's not a WTF, I don't know what is. Plus, a ream of paper, 500 pages, costs a few bucks, plus the toner, etc... factor in eBay and PayPal fees, he's not gonna make any money. Wow. Just wow. Cheers, Smeg

Well, it is special if you're outside the USA. There was an eBay auction some days ago with a Floppy 2000 and an XM301, sadly the seller didn't want to ship to Europe. It ended below 7 US$ and originally had a BIN tag of 38 US$. I'd have bought it at an instant for my collection and happily paid the +40US$ shipping. BTW, there's more people from Cloud Cuckoo Land on eBay, those are the ones I have already posted in the Auction Central forum: http://search.ebay.com/260503234177 http://search.ebay.com/200399690098 http://search.ebay.com/300362223228 Thorsten

I am pretty sure it must be something that is not even legal (well, sort-of) in California and the Netherlands. Thorsten
