Is this one of the "bad" power supplies

Recommended Posts

I'm considering trying to win this XEGS on eBay. Is the power supply pictured one of the famed bad types that malfunctions and blows systems up?

Of course, if it is, I'll just tell him to keep it and save on the postage.

ed - also should add from his description. Not sure if it's a symptom of overvoltage, or if he's just not tuned his TV properly: Item powers on fine and tunes in with games working fine but screen continuously roles for whatever reason & making a low pitch noise, maybe something to do with tuner on console ?

As far as I know only the US Ingot PSU's are the ones that blow (and mostly on 130XE's & 65XE's)...

Don't know about any 230V PSUs that blow up, but getting a 7-pin DIN plug and a cheap PDA PSU is always a good idea.

I am regularly amazed how cheap Atari VCS and 8-bit stuff is dealt on eBay Oz though. Even including the shipping to Europe, it's often cheaper than here in Germany.
