StanJr #1 Posted August 4, 2009 The light has gone out in the upper marquee of our Ms. Pac-man machine. I have replaced the bulb, but the light still does not go on. What should I be looking for in the wiring etc. that might solve this issue?
Dr Galaga #2 Posted August 4, 2009 Did you try replacing the starter or ballast too?
StanJr #3 Posted August 5, 2009 I would have to say no, since all I have done is change the bulb itself. Add to that, the fact that I have no idea what those things you asked about are. Could you elaborate?
Dr Galaga #4 Posted August 5, 2009 (edited) Fluorescent lights need a starter or a ballast to help produce an electrical charge to energize the bulb. I attached a picture of each that I stole from the Internet so you can see what they look like. If you replace these (whichever one you have) make sure that they are the exact same specifications as the original. Sometimes people just replace the entire light with a cheap under the counter model (Example also attached). Edited August 5, 2009 by Dr Galaga
StanJr #5 Posted August 5, 2009 ah, very good then. I'll look into that. Thanks!
Dr Galaga #6 Posted August 6, 2009 Oh, BTW. The starter can be removed by giving it a slight twist counter-clockwise.
