Sgt.Pepper1983 #1 Posted August 5, 2009 Since I got my cib c-100 the box has been on display on top of the entertainment center where it's safe from my nephew. But yesterday I caught the cat pawing at it, pressing down on the lid. The only reason I didn't throw him out is because he's been declawed and it didn't look like he did any damage to it. But it's been in the closet since then just in case. But I want to keep the box on display. Does anyone know if a two or three year old cat is too old to be trained to not touch it? Video #2 Posted August 5, 2009 Personally, if you want to display it, you can go to some place like "the container store" and get an acrylic (sp?) display box, they make them in nearly every size. As for the cat, training one not to do something is actually fairly easy, as long as your there, get a can and put some beans in it, when the cat starts to go somewhere you don't want it, you shake the can and the cat'll loose interest after a few rounds (if not the first time). 16-bit #3 Posted August 5, 2009 (edited) We always used spray bottles (like the kind hairdressers use) with water to train our cats to stay away from or off of things. Whenever they go near something you don't want them too just give them a quick squirt of water. They pick up on the idea fairly quick. I'm sure a three year old cat will learn just as quickly as a younger cat. Edited August 5, 2009 by 16-bit
classicgamingguy #4 Posted August 6, 2009 Then you've got the cats (like mine) who will go back to that spot when no one's around. Then when you catch them, they innocently jump down and look at you like, "You never said to go there when you weren't around..."...
Sgt.Pepper1983 #5 Posted August 6, 2009 He doesn't care whether I'm around or not. He's laying on top of the mouse right now.
Sgt.Pepper1983 #6 Posted August 6, 2009 Does anyone know what a display case for the box could cost? If I spray him with water that could get the box too.
MetalSlime23 #7 Posted August 7, 2009 Try getting some get repellent and spray it around the area. That stuff smells really bad, and it helped me train my 1 year old cat to stay away from my TV and game consoles. After a while, they associate the smell with the area, even if you don't spray it all of the time.
