I used to know how to get into the black hole. I even made it to the boss once, but never beat it. But the other day I played all the way through all three routes and couldn't do it. Does anyone here remember how to do it?

about halfway thru the asteroid field, there are these 'chains' of asteroids. gold rock in the middle with gray attached on both sizes. after the third set goes by. look to your left (i believe) and there is an asteroid with face on it. shoot it, and i believe the black hole opens right after.

Just to provide further clarification, it has to be done from the Asteroid field on the central route.

 

The southern Asteroid field is where you can access the other secret level, Out of this Dimension.

If I recall correctly, haven't played in a while, you have to shoot the gold rock in the spinning chain just as you're about to hit it (or maybe you just have to hit it) and then run into the asteroid with the face on it, you spin and get flung to an unmarked part of the map.

 

I don't rember, butt there's another path that goes somewhere else, it lets you hop from one path to another...I think it was something to do with the jellyfish on the left path, but can't remember.

 

Damn, now I'm going to have to hook up the emulator, I love this game...oh wait, the emulators don't work on diagonal, which you use constantly, guess I'll have to see if I can dig the SNES out.

Does it have to be done just perfectly or could I still be doing something wrong?

It's extremely easy to do. Just shoot the gold colored asteroid just before you reach it at each of those three rotating asteroid belts, making sure to fly through where the asteroid was (Shouldn't be a problem if your waiting until the last second to shoot it anyways).

 

Then you'll see the Black Hole appear from the left and fly into it. Don't even think you have to shoot it, just fly into it. Then you'll be drawn into the Black Hole and can warp to 3 or 4 different locations on the map depending on how many rotations of the level you make before deciding to leave (You can leave by flying through the silver health rings I think or something similar as you reach one of them, its been a while).

 

I don't have a clue what Video is talking about, perhaps he was referring to how you can warp to different locations depending on how long you stay at the Black Hole (Including one that takes you the level with enemies that appear like jellyfish, Sector Y or X, I forget which is which). But he makes it sound like its a different level secret level.

I got it shortly after putting up my last post. It wasn't hard to do but it has to be done just perfectly. What I was doing wrong was not waiting until the last second before shooting the orange asteroids. I'll try for the other hidden level next.

Yeah, that's what I was talking about, that's why I couldn't get it to work I was doing theleft path and trying stuff with the jellyfish, I was supposed to go through the right path and hit the asteroid. :lol Yeah, don't mind me, just senile. One thing I always wondered, can you end the special stage? I mean the letters react to being shot, and stay long enough and enemies begin coming out again (you can die to death, but eh...yeah.)
