GideonsDad #27 Posted August 10, 2009 I use emulators to play almost every system it makes since to, it makes space in my home, keeps it clutter free, and makes the wife happy GideonsDad
Rik #28 Posted August 10, 2009 I've tried emulation, but theres always something off or missing. In my experience,or the ones ive played anyway, are never %100 on.I like to play the original games on an original console, any other way is not the same for me. Asaki #29 Posted August 10, 2009 I usually play on the Wii or PSP, followed by one of my Atari consoles...usually a light sixer. How is the Wii emulator? I've been meaning to try it, but somehow, it just seems to me that most of the Atari magic is lost in emulation. Maybe it's just me. Plus I don't think it has an "original" rendering mode, and most Wii 2D stuff I've seen in 480 mode on an analogue TV is really flickery and hurts my eyes >_<

I play games in 480p on my 50 inch plasma tv. Its not the real thing, but close enough. It's better than playing on a PC. I have my collection packed up since we are moving, so emulation is the only way to play now.
opeygon #31 Posted August 11, 2009 i use a sears 4 switcher. i have a heavy sixer and it's in great condition on a display shelf. but for everyday use, i prefer my telegames

4Ks #33 Posted August 12, 2009 I use a 4-switch woody.
cvga #34 Posted August 12, 2009 I use a light sixer upstairs and a 7800 downstairs (at least I did before I packed it up). I didn't realize that the 4 switchers were more popular. Almost everyone I have ever known with an Atari had a 6 switch of some sort!
Poopopyo #35 Posted August 12, 2009 I alternate between light 6er, 4 switch woody and Vader.
jimpoleshuk #36 Posted August 12, 2009 4 switch woody, Do any games require a sixer?
shadow460 #37 Posted August 12, 2009 Primarily my Sears Heavy Sixer. If proof is needed, well, I could take a picture... Sometimes I'll use the 7800. I should be using it this week since it's easier to get to the right joystick port for Wizard of Wor.
Lord Helmet #38 Posted August 12, 2009 4 switch woody, Do any games require a sixer? No, but there is a version of the overlay for Space Shuttle only fits the six-er. I believe one of each came with the game. http://www.atariage.com/overlay_page.html?...wareLabelID=

Mr. Shrike #40 Posted August 13, 2009 I just use the Jr. It is the easiest to set up and I don't want to break my four switched woody.... and my other vader and tele-games models don't work too well.
+HatNJ #41 Posted August 13, 2009 chose combo of all but when in my game room its either my Heavy sixer or 7800 and in living room Emulator via Wii
sandmountainslim #42 Posted August 15, 2009 The combo option is miles ahead a I figured it would be. I think the setup I have is perfect for my home. Stella set up on my computer here in the den and the Vader hooked to the TV in my bedroom so that way which either end of the house I happen to be in I can play Atari if I choose. Tr3vor #46 Posted August 18, 2009 i use a light sixer. i think the sears video arcade is kind of ugly, that silver or white panel dosent match.
Pitfall Harry #47 Posted August 18, 2009 Heavy Sixer for me. Although I have other models, I always play my Heavy Sixer for all of the following reasons: 1. Nostalgia - It's the model I had as a kid. 2. Retro - The faux wood look is just too cool to ignore. 3. Shielding - Heavy metal internal shielding provides unparalleled video clarity. 4. Convenience - Big, easy to manipulate toggle switches in front make life easier. 5. Cable - Non-detachable video cable means one less thing to hunt for before gaming up. 6. Groovy - The top panel grooves make a convenient stage for folded game strategy note cards. 7. Thermodynamic - Mammoth size, dark color, and ventilated grille provide excellent heat dissipation characteristics to ensure extended life. 8. Indestructible - Built like a tank, the heavy sixer can take a licking but keep on ticking. 9. Original - Being the very first model of Atari video computer system adds to its charm. 10. Musical - When you run your thumbnail across the grooves, it makes the same, really cool Rrrip! sound it did 30 years ago.
Frizo #48 Posted August 20, 2009 I use a Jr. Its sleek, small, and it looks cool. What more do you want?
Fischer500 #49 Posted August 20, 2009 I use a 4 switch woodgrain in the big atari case that holds everything. But whats the Wii atari emulator? I have a Wii but I have NEVER heard of any emulator on it. HALP please?
etschuetz #50 Posted August 20, 2009 (edited) I play my Atari games on either emulation, or on the Atari 7800 (ver. 3), 5200 (4 port), Jaguar, and Lynx II consoles. Above picture is my "retro rig" consisting of a Zenith Console tv circa 1985, Atari 7800, and Atari 5200. The metal Case contains my games for the 2600, 5200, and 7800. Emulation is through Stella, Prosystem, Kat5200, and Handy. There is no "good" Jag emulator, so that is all done via physically.
