Jag AC Adapter question

Recommended Posts

Why do you have an AC adapter that gets hot?

The heat won't destroy the power adapter. I leave mine in all the time.

Mine doesn't, but people say most AC adapters heat up.

Personally I have never had that happen to me.

Out of curiosity, anybody have a Jag AC adaptor that gets extremely hot if left plugged into the wall? Could this be an isolated problem???

Mine gets hot too... I just unplug it if I haven't played in a few days.

It is a good idea unless you like paying for service that you didn't get benefit from... to put any and all electronic adapters you have on a switch or surge protector... that way when you use your items you can power the cord up... when not in use the adapters are still costing you on your electric bill, always wasting money and humming away. They outlaw incandescent bulbs in America... but overlook big things like this. People should just use common sence (with regard to regulation, not personally aimed at you). Most of my adapters heat up when in use to answer your question... but I do play games for several hours at a time.

Yup, as ax said AC units do heat up pretty good and it's best to put them on a switch.

What I do is have a six outlet surge protector strip on the floor behind the TV that's just for my Jaguar. I have an extension cord plugged into the 6-outlet strip which then has my two Jaguar AC units plugged into the extension cord. I use my foot to flick the switch on the power strip on the floor when I want to use the Jaguar and when I am done. Like I said the power switch only controls the Jag, -TV and everything else is plugged into other outlets.

Also, I usually leave my JagCD player attached and when I am playing cartridge games I will unplug the second Jaguar AC unit that powers the CD unit to save power since it does not take two AC units to run a cartridge game, that's only for CDs.

I´d say that´s just normal.

I would not leave it on when not in use. Doesn´t make any sense and consumes quite some power without reason.
