sandmountainslim #1 Posted August 22, 2009 The topic about a guy reaching 100 games got me to thinking about my original collection I had back in the early 80's (and still have, it's just been added to) and realizing how piss poor my collection was at the time! Here is my entire setup from back in the day. Vader Console without paddles Combat Pac-Man Defender Asteroids Jungle Hunt Home Run Missile Command Q-Bert Donkey Kong Space Invaders Ice Hockey Space Jockey Sounds like a pretty lame collection nowadays but at the time I thought it was decent enough, it wasn't until I started collecting Atari games again in the early 2000's that I discovered all that I was missing and I have over 300 carts now. cvga #2 Posted August 22, 2009 Good topic. I had a bunch of games as a kid but nowhere near as many as I have today. I think my collection around 1985 consisted of... Asteroids Bank Heist Basketball Beamrider Bermuda Triangle Berzerk Breakout Bugs Bump N Jump Burgertime Combat Crypts of Chaos Decathalon Defender Demon Attack Dig Dug Donkey Kong Dragonfire E.T. Enduro Fire Fighter Frogger Gopher GORF Grand Prix H.E.R.O. Journey Escape Keystone Kapers Kool-Aid Man Krull Miner 2049er Moonsweeper Ms. Pac-man Pac-man Phoenix Pitfall Pitfall II Popeye Q*Bert Riddle of the Sphinx Sssnake Space War Starmaster Street Racer Super Challenge Baseball Trick Shot Video Pinball
accousticguitar #3 Posted August 22, 2009 As near as I can recall, I had: 1 4-switch woody 1 set of paddles Adventure Combat Asteroids Warlords Pac-Man Berzerk Missile Command Space Invaders Raiders of the Lost Ark Star Raiders. A while back I decided to start collecting all the boxes that I owned back in the day. So far I have them all but the last two. I framed the eight original boxes that I have (sort of). Philflound #4 Posted August 22, 2009 I've mentioned this before a long time ago. I had an original heavy sixer and my total 2600 games was about 48. We then sold all the games to a friend, whose house burned down, so all my original games are toast. I did have my original Atari unit though up until about 10 years ago. I don't know if I kept it or sold it to a friend with like 50 other units. I needed space. Phil

+save2600 #6 Posted August 22, 2009 My original collection from the 80's mostly fit inside the top lid of a Trivial Pursuit box. Overall though, through the 80's, I had up to 60 different games and that was a lot. Mostly commons, but from what I can remember, I had: Atari Video Cube Snoopy and the Red Baron Sneak N Peak Tutankham Moon Patrol Super Challenge Baseball Super Challenge Football Berzerk Combat Donkey Kong Mouse Trap Reactor Bermuda Triangle Super Breakout Centipede Armor Ambush Bowling Carnival Coconuts Cosmic Creeps Cosmic Ark Dragonfire E.T. Dark Cavern Fast Eddie Fathom Frogger Galaxian Golf Gorf Infiltrate Kangaroo Joust Laser Blast Mario Bros. Megamania Midnight Magic Ms. Pac-Man Outlaw Pengo Planet Patrol Private Eye Q*Bert Real Sports Baseball Raiders of the Lost Ark Riddle of the Sphinx Spacechase Spiderman Star Fox Superman Star Master Street Racer Star Wars: ESB Swordquest Earthworld Swordquest Fireworld Tennis Vanguard Venture ...I don't recall having too many of the really early 2600 games. I didn't get my 2600 until '81 or '82 I think and coupled with the fact we grew up with arcade machines around the house, didn't feel compelled to own stuff like Asteroids, Pac-Man or Space Invaders on the 2600 which were shite comparatively. cvga #7 Posted August 22, 2009 I'm still enjoying this thread. Reading what others had reminded me that I also had Ice Hockey Tutankham along with the games I posted earlier.

rsiddall #10 Posted August 25, 2009 (edited) Mine Reactor Frogger Pitfall 2 Ms Pac-Man Swordquest Earthworld Berzerk Riddle of the Sphinx Demon Attack pack-in cart Combat Friends Jawbreaker Pitfall Circus Atari Asteroids Pac Man Freeway Space Invaders I was really picky in what I bought/asked for...always looking for graphics over game play (although in my case the games I bought were fun to play, too). I guess I wanted a truly arcade experience as evidenced by the games I did have. That, and the fact I had a friend who had an Atari 400 computer with Pac-Man which ruined the 2600 for me. VectorGamer #11 Posted August 25, 2009 Combat Pac-Man Defender Asteroids Jungle Hunt Home Run Missile Command Q-Bert Donkey Kong Space Invaders Ice Hockey Space Jockey Sounds like a pretty lame collection nowadays Even though it was "slim pickins," it looks like you had some marquee titles there in Asteroids, Jungle Hunt, Missile Command, Q*bert and Space Invaders. Even the lousy ones like Pac-Man, Defender and Donkey Kong were essential to any collection - if anything, to show off how bad they were. Speaking of bad, games like Home Run and (especially) Football were neat at the time. I remember playing Real Sports Baseball quite a bit when it came out and it really was good given the system it was written for. It sure was idiotic of me to sell (or essentially give away) my 2600 collection through garage sales. I had so many titles, the Supercharger, Heavy Sixer, cartridge organizers and the whole nine. I'm sure others have made the same mistake.
VectorGamer #12 Posted August 25, 2009 Working off of everyone else's list to jog my memory...I'm sure I had more but there's no way I'm going to remember what I had... I remember getting some of these games in the bargain bin. Most likely not even knowing what they were but just getting them cuz they were so darn cheap. I had lost interest in gaming around the time Atari started releasing the Crystal Castles, Jungle Hunts, Vanguards et al Adventure Asteroids Barnstorming Basketball Berzerk Breakout Circus Combat Commando Raid Communist Mutants from Space Cosmic Swarm Defender Enduro Escape From the Mindmaster Freeway Frogger (Official) GORF Grand Prix Ice Hockey Kaboom Keystone Kapers Laser Blast Miniature Golf Missile Command Pac-man Phoenix Pitfall Real Sports Baseball Real Sports Football Space Invaders Super Breakout Superman Yars Revenge

shadow460 #19 Posted September 4, 2009 My original collection included 256 games, a Woody, a Vader, CX-40's, a Power Stick, two Trak Ball controllers, wireless joysticks, three sets of paddles, a Booster Grip, keyboards with Basic Programming overlays (I still have those same overlays), a Star Raiders pad, a Fairchild stick, two Newport sticks, Driving controllers, a Sears Tele Games center, a Supercharger (still have this), three RF boxes (I still have one and my brother has another one of them), and who knows what else. I've still got the Starpath games we had, 1 to 10. I've got the manuals for them all, too, but Dragonstomper is not the original. My goal is to replace all of that except for the Game Center (I have the Atari one now, with no cracks in the lid) and the Newport sticks ('cause they suck). I can't begin to list the games we had. The rarest was Guardian. After that, the rarest were the three rare Telesys titles and some of the later Starpath titles. We had complete collections of many small companies like US Games, Data Age, Telesys, and Mythicon.

EricDeLee #21 Posted September 4, 2009 My wife's mother used to work in California, on the assemby line for what I believe was Activision. She used to bring the lab loaners and other stuff home all of the time. She supposingly has them still, somewhere. I hope she finds them in some forgotten box in the basement! That will be a wonderful thing!
seanhq #22 Posted September 4, 2009 (edited) Here is my original collection that I played when I was a little kid (5-6 years old): Combat Bowling Pac-Man Indy 500 Frogger Pitfall River Raid Outlaw Asteroids Jungle Hunt Missile Command Donkey Kong Space Invaders I only know this because when my grandma gave me the heavy sixer that I played back in the late 1970's as a kid a few years ago when I would stay the weekends at there place had these games in the box she sent me. Man, my grandpa and I use to play Combat all the time. He loved that game. I'm just glad that after he passed away a few years ago my grandma gave me the system he and I played in my youth. Now that I'm 37 years old and have a steady income and a home of my own, I've since filled my collection with hundreds of 2600 games, however the ones above still have a special place in my childhood memories. Side note, I'm glad that my wife puts up with my collection. She's even a fan of the 2600 now, so that's a good thing Edited September 4, 2009 by seanhq
