STICH666 #1 Posted August 25, 2009 I just got one out of my neighbors garbage with a PS2 (it was sitting on a box not in a bag) and it works fine but none of my games will recognize it as a memory card. It came with gamesaves already on it so I would assume it can be used as such. How do I get it to be used as a memory card?

How do I get it to be used as a memory card? only a very few games can use it in place of a memory card. a few more use it to decrease load times or store downloadable content but for most games it's totally useless. Except for piracy of course. have a link Edited August 25, 2009 by Reaperman
MagitekAngel #3 Posted August 25, 2009 I'm pretty sure you need to install drivers that came on a disc that originally came with the HDD. My guess is you'll have to go looking for that, or investigate a homebrew workaround.

Video #5 Posted August 25, 2009 I don't think the PS2 HDD can be accessed by most games directly, many will ignore it, but a few will see it and make use of it. Mostly, you can copy your memory card to the HDD in a utility program, and copy from the HDD to the memory card, but you can't do it in most games. It's kinda like using the PS2 memory card to save PS1 games, you can use the console as a bridge, but not access it directly.
STICH666 #6 Posted August 26, 2009 Thanks guys. Hey does anybody know of any HDLoader type programs that allow you to rip burnt games to the HDD. I want to play my custom Guitar Hero 2 but it tells me that it's not a valid PS2 disc.
warmachine #7 Posted August 26, 2009 You either have to connect the hard drive directly to your computer, or transfer the game to the ps2 over a network connection
Bruce Tomlin #8 Posted August 26, 2009 WinHIIP is the PC loader program. Stick the drive in a USB case to hook it up to the PC. Don't even bother ripping on the console, it's slow and more likely to fail anyhow. Also, WinHIIP can apply patch files when you rip.
