vdub_bobby #2 Posted August 26, 2009 What is the point of that article? It doesn't even talk about the GBC version, other than to mention that it's in color.
CGQuarterly #3 Posted August 26, 2009 (edited) I think that the field of retro entertainment journalism is still in its infancy, so that major news publications will pretty much hire anyone to write whatever because they don't know any better. Of all of the retro gaming content I have read on major news sites, none of it has impressed me. This article is very odd, as pointed out by vdub, because it seems to have nothing to do with the GBC version of the game. So why not just make it an article about Space Invaders in general (which is what it is anyway) and just mention all of the current platforms on which it can be found. After reading articles of this nature in mainstream publications, I always come away with the feeling that the author, rather than being a true retro gamer, is the type who buys classic gaming t-shirts at Hot Topic and Target and is only into old games because it is cool and indie and because they are too young to have actually lived through that period. Video #5 Posted August 29, 2009 space invaders for the original game boy was cooler, plugged into a super game boy, and you got a full SNES port of the arcade game Yep, GBC may look cool on the handheld, but the DMG version kicks ass too, especially since it was getting two systems games on one cart (I always thought it was funny that the SNES cart cost more than the GB cart that had the SNES code on it.... of course, I guess the SGB price offset that a little)
