Portable 2600

I want to make something like my picture, Would it be possible?

It could(anything is possible ), but what would be the dimensions that you want as you have a lot that would need to fit in there?

I'm working on one HERE, but its on hold for now due to school starting and lack of funds.My case design is on Pg. 1 I think and I'm modeling it around the original gameboy as its my favorite retro handheld.

If you go to this site, Portable 2600 forum, there is a forum on how Ben turned a 2600 into a portable unit. I know he made a ton of different versions of the portable 2600. This link, link, is the main 2600 forum section.

 

I thought that it was a neat idea to make a portable 2600 so while you are out at flea markets you could test the games while you shop.

That flea market idea is great, I guess once people start buying portable 2600s, less people will be getting unplayable/uninjoyable games

Holy cow, I must say: this gallery of portables is one serious array of crappy workmanship. If you're going to do it at least put in the effort to do it well... don't just duct tape a screen to a console.

A few in there look pretty nice. Many of them I wouldn't even let be seen as a prototype.

OMFG! except for a few, that puts the crapmame pages to extreme shame. Further proof that just because you might be able to do err... something, doesn't mean you should.

My bet is that none of them even work. I've seen people put on hardware hacking "shows" before. I could be wrong though, no troll here.

I've actually done that recently. My portable has a few issues, however it works for a limited amount of time. I took it with me recently and tested some games at a local shop. The guy was fascinated with it and could not believe it was possible.

This was my entire point about doing a portable. I didn't want to make it within a shoe box, or melt half of a controller to a video screen. I wanted something that was presentable and looked nice.

A nomad was done a while back. That would be a good one to redo a portable in. Perhaps the sega game gear as well.

 

My second portable will be started soon. Unless I wait until after the move (which I may have to do)

What are you planning on doing in your second one? Mine is at a stand still until I get some more time but just wondering whats going to be new it the 2nd.
