nester #1 Posted September 1, 2009 So how do hook up the 32X? All I've got are Genesis cables, and I know that's not enough. If I can get that working and my Sega Cd fixed than all my consoles will be working and I can actually post about interesting things again.
BDW #2 Posted September 1, 2009 I had trouble with this too. All you need is the rf cable and the ''double male rf cable thing''(for lack of a better word). Hook one end of the double male cable to the genesis rf out (or the av out for the genesis 1), and plug the other end into the 32x rf in. Then, plug the 32x into the genesis. Then, plug the rf out cable into the 32x and into your tv.

You need the 2 cables (AV in/AV out)that came with the 32x and the power supply!
BDW #4 Posted September 1, 2009 I forgot to say the power supply! Silly me.....
Giltygear #5 Posted September 1, 2009 dont forget! if youre hooking up the model 2 SCD with the SG/32X, you need a power supply with EACH COMPONENT. Then when the monster awakens, can you enjoy your games. seriously tho, all those cords are ridiculous. looks like the system is in the intensive care unit with all of the wires and tubes coming out the back of it

16-bit #7 Posted September 2, 2009 If you're missing the connector cable to attach the 32x to the Genesis. You can find them on eBay. They can be pricey though. Had to do that with mine when I got it since it only came with the power supply. Best of luck getting it up an running. They can be temperamental. You need to connect the video out of the genesis to the video in of the 32X The video out of the 32X goes to the TV. You also need a seperate power supply for the 32X. If you have the Mega CD connected too then the video out from the mega CD will go into the 32X and the video out from the Genesis will go to the video in of the Mega CD. My head hurts now. You need to connect the video out of the genesis to the video in of the 32X The video out of the 32X goes to the TV. You also need a seperate power supply for the 32X. This isn't that hard. Video goes from the Genesis to the 32x. The new "video out" comes out from the 32x and goes to the TV. Give everything power and you're set. No video runs through the SegaCD. If you're crazy like me, you patch the stereo out from the front of the Genesis 1 into the back of the SegaCD and use the RCA jacks in the back for stereo out. That's pretty much it. The reason for this is because no sound is passed from the Genesis to the SegaCD through the expansion port (however, sound is passed from the SegaCD to the Genesis). I didn't even hear anbody talking about doing this with a Genesis 1, which takes an adaptor for the video cable between the 32x and the Genesis. What's so complicated about this? I guess it can be a little daunting the first time you do it, but it really isn't that rough... EDIT: Also thought I'd mention that any combination above (Genesis+32x+SegaCD) ALWAYS requires three power supplies. I seem to recall somebody above implying that this wasn't the case for some combination... Edited September 3, 2009 by Atariman
nonner242 #10 Posted September 3, 2009 CDX only requires 2 power supplies!
2600Lives #11 Posted September 3, 2009 You could probably get an entire 32X system for what you'd pay for just the cable itself, actually, so I'd look around some before committing to one. I have 2 fully functioning systems, one as a backup, and I paid about 5 bucks for each. Lol.
Atariman #12 Posted September 3, 2009 CDX only requires 2 power supplies! But Sega says that won't work... (I guess you could technically use an X'Eye, too)
nester #13 Posted September 3, 2009 Hey thinks for the advice. I know what I need now. A few years back my friend sold me a broken Genesis with a 32x that didn't have the connectors and claimed that they both worked fine. What's even more incredulous is that I still speak to him! Of course I did also get a working SNES and a bunch of games along with it.
